A big black bear, musta been 400 pounds... he had something too. A carcass of something, probably a dear that got hit by a car. Either way, I wasn't going any closer to check. Every now and then he'd look up and at us. I took a picture, I'll post it when I get em developed.

Still have about 15 shots on the roll, but I'm having a party tomorrow night so they'll get used up.

4. Do not taunt HAppy fun Bear:

An investigation into a grizzly bear mauling that severely injured two people in the Many Glacier Valley is complete, with Glacier National Park officially concluding that the incident involved "a defensive action by a female grizzly with two cubs."
"As this was a defensive attack, no management action will be taken against the bears," a park press release on the investigation states. "This determination was made in accordance with Glacier's Bear Management Guidelines."

Rangers had little choice with management actions, since the bears could not be located in the days following the Aug. 25 attack, and if a sow with cubs had been located, it would have been difficult to determine if they were the bears involved in the mauling.

8. I was born and raised near Glacier National Park.
I will always do a flop sweat when I hear
about this kind of story.

Them bears are some bad dudes and dudettes.

I hope his recovery is short and sweet.

5. Cool! I had that same honor a while ago!
No pics though. Was driving through western Massachusetts and happen to see this animal in a small field. I thought "Damn! That's one BIG dog!"
It popped its head up to look at my vehicle. I yelled "WOW! A BEAR!".
The bear didn't seem to thrilled it had been spotted and took off. Suprisingly fast for an animal that seems to be ungainly and lumbering.
