Doctors need to stop prescribing the crap that Pharmacy force on them

One week later and I still have this nasty cold and my sinus are all stuffed up. Why do I still have this problem? Because I wasn't prescribed the normal stuff given to me in the past but some new fangled anti-biotic that oh, btw "I happen to have this coupon - they'll pay for your co-pay"

One week later and I'm still sick AND to top things off the damn anti-biotic killed bacteria in my body BUT NOT THE RIGHT ONES. Every single side affect of this damn new drug she gave me I have. Why couldn't she just give me Amoxcillian, which I've used in the past and never had any side effects with it.

I was never mentioned any problems with this drug when she prescribed it for me other than "You might be a little bit thirsty". Why can't doctors give you a choice if you want to be a fucking guinea pig for unproven drugs or if you prefer the old stuff that you know works.

Edit note: It wasn't a cold I was diagnosed with - it was an Upper Respitory infection. It was pointed out below that colds are viral but our family tends to use that term for any problem with runny nose and bad cough regardless of what was diagnosed.

Okay, please explain what is wrong with my understanding. Colds are caused by viruses. Antibiotics don't affect viruses, so the only thing you can do for a cold is treat the symptoms and wait to get better. Or am I way off base here?

Sorry, in our family we tended to refer to anything that that has a runny nose and other similiar symptons as a 'cold'. It was a generic term for it.

I was diagnosed with an Upper Respitory Infection which would require an anti-biotic.
