My girlfriend and I love each other very much, and yesterday we got into a big fight and she got her stuff and went to stay at a friends house. Should I let her as well as me cool down before I go and try to fix things. I feel it would be best. But any thoughts might help. Thanks

Usually it takes two to tango and I'm sure that you each share some blame. However the most loving response is not to focus on her fault when avoiding your own. The most loving response is to acknowlege your own fault and minimize hers.
That may sound like being a whimp, but it's not. It's being a lover, a friend, and a man.

I dont know where her friend lives, but I know she will call me. i think if i give her a little room to vent things will be ok. we planned on getting married so, i dont think this is the end just a fight, but damn they suck.

It depends how serious it was. However, I can speak from personal experience that it is ALWAYS best to give your SO some cooling off time after a fight. She made up her mind to leave, so that is what she wants right now. I'm sure it will blow over if you give her some time.
