On a lighter note - who wants birthday cake?
We'll be eating this monster for several days to come. Red velvet with cream cheese icing - come on over!

6. Red velvet? Keep that cake away from Fenris and me!
Was it homemade? We tried to make it for my dad for Father's Day and had some problems with it. I don't do a lot of baking, but the cake was weird - it took way longer to bake than the recipe said, and it was hell to frost. But it was damn good! :9

Happy birthday!

7. No - storebought
They didn't put enough red food coloring; it looks reddish-brown, more brown than red. It tastes pretty good, though. It's extremely rich; you can only eat a small piece or risk going into sugar shock!

8. Sounds good
but we have our daughter's birthday cake to finish first...Chocolate, chocolate frosting.

We have Breyer's Natural Vanilla Ice Cream as an accompaniment.

9. I'll take summa dat!
 :D Monday was my birthday and I've been out of town without DU access for a week. My first 39th. ;)

(And no one gave me a cake.)

Red velvet is my favorite cake of all time. I made one for my handfasting a few years ago, with fondant instead of cream cheese, just for the prettiness (I much prefer the cream cheese):

The top layer was from a mix because I messed up the bottom layer, which was from scratch...a crapload of red food coloring and it still stayed pink. But people still seemed to like it.

10. It's beautiful!
And no one gave me this one; I had to buy it for myself. My husband did take me out to dinner and a movie, and he gave me some jewelry and a card. I think I'll keep him!
