There is nothing like music.
Music has to be one of the most wonderful, amazing things human beings ever came up with. It alters your mood, inspires you, makes you move, makes you want to live a little bit longer just so you can hear more...and more and more and more...

3. I'd rank good food behind music, even.
Not in terms of survival, obviously, but good music makes me WAY happier than good food.

2. Nature makes music too
Sounds of the breeze in the willows, the trout splashing in a babbling brook, the hearty laugh of the kookaburra in the Australian outback...

6. It sure does, and I'm a big fan of that kind of music, too!
:hi:

I'm also a fan of quiet. I don't find that a lot of people are nowdays and that's too bad. It's underrated. Quiet can be beautiful.

4. I agree. Along with physics and math, you can't get any closer to God
as you can through music.

5. The physics and math part just made me blink a lot.
:D

But yeah, I know what you mean. I have a thing for the beauty of symmetry and patterns, would that be included in either of those categories?

13. yes
harmonies and scales are mathmatically based. Sounds, acoustic or electronically created, are pure physics. Plus music is about as abstract an artform as you can get.

language of God, in my opinion. But God, being God, also uses the language of music (and dance/movement, and also visual art). Now, some of that DOES involve symmetries and patterns, of course - it's patterns that make science work. But it is not to say that symmetries and patterns are NECESSARY for Divine revelation.

And physics - physics is the study of God. Physics is better theology than most theology. (though it leaves out the ethical and moral component, obviously).

math to appreciate it. But it sure makes it easier to produce if you know the secrets of the temple

Though some of the greats, especially some of the early greats, I'm sure didn't "know" the physics and math, at least not inthe sense that they could talk about it formulaically or in modern terms, but they knew it (and current ones know it) on an intuitive level, being able to use the language without even knowing they know it (like Harry Potter and Parseltongue), except, unlike Harry Potter, they likely didn't even know it existed.
