That's too hard. Any early Wayne Shorter or Art Blakey will do!

8. Buddy on drums... mmm, a swing guy playing bop.
Interesting, I'll have to check that out.

10. For something slightly similar...
check out the Ellington/Mingus/Roach album "Money Jungle", if you haven't heard it. Ellington's playing is revelatory...there are some points where you'd almost swear it was Thelonious at the keys instead. Some of the most "modern"-sounding Ellington you're likely to hear, and another of my favourites (but it's a bit more post-bop, I'd say...came out in '62).

5. Jazz at Massey Hall
Not a bad line up.
Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, Max Roach. Your basic cream of the bebop crop and the best "Night in Tunisia" ever.
Sound quality sketchy, though.

9. Yeah it's great
Parker had misplaced his saxophone and played on a plastic instrument. There was a heavyweight championship that night, Rocky Marciano against Joe Wolcott, I think, and Gillespie kept wandering offstage to find out what was happening in it. But they still pulled the concert off magnificently. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000000Y2R/qid=1122053767/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-7963450-1166330
