6. That is hard.
Aretha is awesome. Tina is awesome. Whitney is too. She has let herself go lately, but she has a beautiful voice.

8. Tough List...
Diana Ross was stunning in "Lady Sings the Blues" and Cher was outstanding in "Mask" and "Silkwood". Babs had "Funny Girl" and a host of other great movies. They all could sing their asses off.

Aretha, was one of the original Motown powers and a enduring American figure (even if that figure has expanded to Hoover Dam like proportions).

Judy Garland however was in a class by herself.

It's a tough list.

9. Streisand/Garland sing, dance, act - drama and comedy (that's very hard)
Streisand did go a step further as a songwriter and director, so I gave her the tip.

11. Streisand was my vote, too.
Sings, just about any genre; dances; acts, both drama and comedy; directs; produces; writes songs, plays/screenplays, essays.

Garland might have done as well, had she lived longer, and got off the booze.
