Two hours of nearly non-stop terror that will make you believe it was real. SUPER Special Effects! Think a cross between "Independence Day" and "Jurassic Park".

It's true the acting sucks but I didn't care and I don't think you will either! It's beautifully photographed and epically choreographed. Special treat for Newark, NJ residents familiar with Ferry Street.

The reviewers say the second half slows down, it's true sorta, and that's because they make a big deal out of a certain part of the original story and although the scenes work technically, they add little to the plot and border on implausible.

But it doesn't drag much and I really hurried when i ran to take a leak so I wouldn't miss anything. I rarely run, except for food and...(snip)

And don't expect the typical happy ending. It begins and ends like the original story, but its oddly vague and misses the mark. Considering the lack of subtlety by Spielberg's hand throughout, it ends quickly without a "Big Moment."

But this is the first time in a long time I've been to the movies and don't feel like I got gypped.

6. Never saw the original, but

from what I've heard from others, the conclusion of the larger storyline (aliens coming to destroy Earth) is the same. As for the conclusion of the main characters' storyline, I have no idea. :shrug:

One again Speilberg gets the hardware right.

I grew up with my brother scaring me witless with Jeff Waynes WOTW Musical version and those machines brought it all back!!!
