5. Klipsch. Expensive but worth every penny.
Their set of 2.1 computer speakers is more than enough to fill a room with great sound, and for barely $100. I can only imagine what their 6.1 surround set is like. :)

Getting something more in line with what you need would probably set you back around a grand or two but it would be a real crowd pleaser.

I haven't heard anything *bad* about those brands
But then I haven't been in the market for any high-end audio equipment for a number of years. Hell, the Klipsch computer speakers aren't even mine. They're a friend's, and I had the pleasure of helping him hook them up and then having neighbors pound on the door while we blasted tunes on MusicMatch at 9pm. :)

You might want to pick up a copy of Stereo Review magazine, or search for a website that has customer reviews of good audio equipment. I'm sure there are many brands that are in the league of Klipsch, but I couldn't name them if I had to.

18. as far as Klipsch speakers go, the 2.1's are kind of weak.
but still excellent for what they are, i have one set on my computer for watching movies, and i plan on getting another off ebay for my radio at work.

the best klipshs are the older ones, any of the extremely heavy wood cabinet klipsh speakers will really perform! i have some decade old CF-3's that i've had since new, had some quartets stolen from me before them, and currently dreaming of upgrading to some Klipschorns!

they're certainly overkill for a tavern though! but they seem to hold their value extremely well. any i buy now will be vintage. they are my number one choice for "old fashioned" speakers, ie. big wood cabinets with big drivers making big sound accurately. if you blow one up, you're listening to your music wrong!

7. Well, if you want a PA system.....
Here's some info....

If all you want is speakers that will cut through crowds, then, yes, klipsch are good, as would be other quality horn based systems.

If you are putting something up in a business, I would go with PA speakers though.....

9. What is your budget?
I have found that Peavey(Yup, Peavey) makes some fine, fine stuff for professional/challenging environments. Their prices are sane as well.

And yes, I used to do that stuff for a living.

Pay attention to their amplifiers. Hard to kill and they sound great.

12. Many years ago I owned music stores
I would sooner hang myself dead than give those bastards one
penny of my money. The budget is two grand.
