OMG! They really do use the term "gay agenda"
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 10:02 AM by kick-ass-bob
:eyes:

I thought that was just something we made up to make fun of them...

I saw it on ABC Family (the 700 Club, no less) something about school libraries and some books that "promote the gay agenda"
At first I thought it was a joke - then the guy never changed his expression. That's what I get for watching Mrs Doubtfire with my son last night. :P I didn't watch the rest of the story, because I didn't need my anger so high right before going to bed.

I tried to find the story on their site, but to no avail - they did have a poll about it though:

"Should parents have the right to decide what reading material is acceptable for public school libraries?"

On edit: I searched "gay agenda" on cbn and got 38 matches!

1. Well, actually, I think it's "the homosexual agenda"
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 10:03 AM by terrya
Pat Robertson and Falwell and Dobson and those hateful, disgusting, scum sucking bigots are loath to use the word "gay". They usually use "homosexual" (or "homosexUAL").

But yes...they use it. We have an agenda. Which is to have the same legal rights as the heterosexuals have.

Yep...I have an agenda. :-)

3. I actually heard them say "gay agenda"
It wasn't one of those guys you mentioned, just some "news anchor" they had on.

Here is a title from their site:
"HOMOSEXUALITY
Battleground: Public Schools and the Gay Agenda"

13. the gay agenda in public schools is simple
don't teach straight kids to hate or fear or despise gay kids.

Period.

It's like the "oak tree" agenda. Yes, there are some oak trees in the forest among the elms. So what. You don't have to worry about your little elm trees turning into little oak trees, just don't fuck with the oak trees only because they're oak.

Tolerance, fairness, decency, accepting diversity - that's the "gay" agenda. I thought it was the boy scout agenda actually, to tell the truth but that's debatable at the moment.

11. They like to put scare quotes around the word "gay"
You'll see that a lot in Wingnutland.

Or, if they're referring to gay marriage, they put the quotes around the word "marriage."

As if to say, "The people CLAIM it's marriage but we know the good Lord Jayzus wants to kill them fagz!"

I work ever so hard not to hate these people. It's hard work, not hating.

10. I sure do!
:-)

And that's what I was going for, pronounciationwise: "homosexshal". That's how Robertson and Falwell pronounce it.

But Fred Phelps pronounces it "the fag agenda"

4. It's like the old joke...
What do you call a rich slob? A gourmet.
What do you call a poor slob? A glutton.

Now it is:

"Agenda" vs. "Conspiracy Theory"

"Should parents have the right to decide what reading material is acceptable for public school libraries?"

And got this, on LibraryLaw.com, about a proposed Alabama bill:

http://blog.librarylaw.com/librarylaw/2005/02/alabama_bill_to.html

Bill to keep gay books out of libraries officially read by Alabama legislature February 1, 2005 - Text of HB30
The Alabama state legislator's bill to prevent public libraries and other public entities from owning, purchasing, or making accessible any materials regarding homosexuality or gay culture has been introduced as HB30, first read February 1, 2005.

It says that no public funds may be used by public libraries (or schools, colleges, universities) to purchase or promote printed or electronic materials that "recognize, foster, or promote a (homosexual) lifestyle."

The homosexual agenda is so powerful, apparently, that we need to suspend our Bill of Rights.

Same link

...This bill has died, due to lack of support. However, the sponsor has promised to introduce the bill again during the next session.

14. They were probably referring to a story here in Florida
Hillsborough county, to be specific. I live in Tampa, in Hillsborough, and this just came up here. The story is that one of the Hillsborough county commissioners, Rhonda Storms, became incensed that one of the libraries had a Gay/Lesbian writers book display for Gay Pride month. It seems that there were three (horrors!) complaints to the library about it. Ms. Storms asked the county commission to pass a resolution that the county would not support any activity having to do with Gay Pride or Gay lifestyle, etc. They passed it, with only one commissioner against it. Ms. Storms is our county's self-appointed moral compass - lucky us!

Here are some stories...
Commission Bans County From Recognizing Gay Pride

Library no place for gay pride display, Storms says

I know there are many to choose from from the fear/hate mongers, but the few details I heard matched the one listed in post #9 above...

16. That ain't the half of it
Homosexuals are being "screened out" of America. As is anyone who promotes an anti-family life-style. I am included in this, as me and girlfriend are not married and living together. This is the language that is used in "values based" investing. "Screening out" It means that investment groups will screen out companies that give money to promote anti-family life styles. We're all fucked.
