Kinda sad....found out a co-worker was stabbed to
death by her husband this weekend.

He stabbed her and then set the house on fire, killing himself. They had a 17 year old son who graduates from high school this year.

I don't know what will happen with the son as the family came from China sometime in the early 90s.

5. Well, I've been sad all day...it's improved to a kinda sad.
It was rather somber at work today, This woman was well liked by all who had the pleasure of working with or near her.

She was also an unabashed Democrat who LOATHED Bush.

A couple of people who sat near her said they had noticed her coming into work with bruises on her neck and arms. She had been withdrawn.

When any of us talked about planning trips together she always, ALWAYS, wanted to go ANYWHERE. I can now see why...her home life was probably a nightmare most of the time.

life. I knew her husband was a researcher (PhD) and that her son was pretty smart as well. I know they came from China and she was concerned about the influence of American culture on her son's academic performance. I am not sure either of them have family around here.

This is the second tragedy to hit the Chinese community here this year. At the beginning of the year a 12 year old Chinese immigrant kid hung himself while attending a weekend Chinese academy.

Sad, sad, sad.

Why couldn't her husband have begun and ended with himself?

10. The poor man probably needed medication.
I can't recall any of my Asian friends or colleagues ever talking about depression or emotional disorders. I wonder if this is something that carries an even greater stigma in Eastern cultures than it does in the West.

8. I am sorry about your coworker
I don't know if your business is this type, but perhaps it would be a nice gesture to do something for the young man who lost his parents to this tragedy.

9. They are pretty corporate and everything must be approved
by HR. I will have to ask a friend who is the same level as my now deceased co-worker, he would know. They worked in the same department.

I just hope the kid was either born in the US or can stay here since he's been accepted to an American college.
