It figures! (Vacation Rant)
So, last year, my partner and I were supposed to go to San Diego for a week on vacation. It was supposed to be payback for a the year before when the trip fell through because of a community theater show he got cast in and the trip conflicted- anyway, we ended up going, instead, to Pensacola to visit his aunt instead. SO this year I told him "I am going to San Diego for my birthday this year. You can either go with me or stay and do whatever." So we planned the trip, got a couple friends to join us and we are all supposed to fly into SD on Saturday and stay in a GORGEOUS beach condo this weekend- except San Diego (my favorite place in the world and where I hope to live in a few years) is a smoldering ember, and flights are being cancelled, animals are being evacuated from the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park, and people are dying! We are supposed to arrive in 99 hours, but I am worried that there won't be anything left to fly into.

So to all you SoCal people... Be well, and safe, and I hope you are spared. To the firefighters out there, be well, be safe, and best of luck. And to the cruel fates: CURSE YOU AND YOUR FOUL SENSE OF HUMOR!

<end rant>

5. I've heard San Diego is wonderful!
Never been there, though. Nor have I been to San Francisco. Yes, a 47 year old gay man...never having been to San Francisco. I'll turn in my gay card now.:-)

Anyway, I hope you and your partner do make it out there. And have a great time, Thom.

6. Thanks!
We did a week in San Francisco in May. We got a great deal on a vacation package, it was a last minute deal. I used to live out there, so I miss it a lot. Just sad that our trip will coincide with so much destruction.

8. I intend to...
The condo is right on the water, so essentially the WHOLE CITY would have to burn down before we are in trouble. Thanks!

9. Look at the Bright Side
You'll have the tourist places all to yourselves and it will be a trip you will always remember.

Of course, if you want to get away from things, go east toward Anza-Borrego Park. It's about two hours in the desert and there's absolutely nothing there but amazing arid landscapes.
