I just ran into a childhood friend I hadn't seen in ages.
I hadn't seen her in over fifteen years. When I was around five years old my best friends were these three girls that lived across the street from me. I lost contact with them over the years but my one friend "Suzy" I saw once in a blue moon. Anyway we were driving back to No. Virginia from the mountains down south and we pulled into gas station. The woman at the pump next to ours looked familiar so I asked her if she was from Va. Beach. She said "yes" and I said are you Mrs. Smith(not real name) she said "yes" and I said "It's me, "Brad Pitt"(not real name) So she says "Oh my gosh, Suzy(not real name) is inside paying for the gas." This gas station is no where near my home town where I knew them from and a hundred miles from where I now live. "Suzy" lives in San Francisco and was just visiting her mother who had moved near where the gas station was. We caught up a little bit, "Suzy" now has twins and a brand new baby, I told her I had just gotten out of prison(kidding)then we said good bye. The whole exchange was most bizarre. It boggles my mind to think about the set of circumstances that had to take place for us to meet up like that. What are the odds?

1. I had that experience once in a bookstore.
Took me three, four minutes to figure out that she's the same person she was the last time I saw here when we were sophomores in high school. It's really sad that she hadn't evolved or grown up. I got her number, called her once, but since then, I just couldn't call her again. I don't know. I just walked away going, "God, there is something about her that just isn't right."

3. This one time at band camp....no seriously....
We were moving to South Korea back in 1980, I was 15, and my Dad ran into a guy at a Temple on the outskirts of Tokyo that he was in the same submarine in the Canadian Navy way back in the early 60's.
This world can be awful small at times.
