Highlights/Lowlights of the new STAR WARS flick
The new installment is certainly the best of the prequels and is probably a bit better than "Return of the Jedi", IMO. Anyway...

Highlights:

"Jar Jar" has ZERO dialogue, and zero story involvement.

Christiansen's acting as Anikin is slightly improved over the last installment.

A fairly good depiction of Anikin's seduction by the dark side & Palpatine.

Palpatine gets plenty of screen time, he helps hold the film together.

Anikin's transformation into the Vader we know at the end was pretty harrowing and well done.

A few nice nods to Episode 4, like the cameo of Peter Cushing's character, General Tarkin.

Lowlights:

An opening battle sequence so frenetic and video-gamey that you can't tell what the hell is going on half the time.

For some reason, in this episode, R2D2 is unbelievably agile - jumping and bouncing and flying. How the hell did he get to be such a slow, clumsy clunker in Ep 4?

Some of the most laughably bad diologue ever Ani: "You look so beautiful" Padme: "That's because you love me". Ani: No, it's because YOU love ME."

and Ani: "If you're not with me, you're my enemy!" (obvious, much?)

But overall, it's an enjoyable, but long, 2hr 26 min. movie.

Have fun!

1. Yeah, you pretty much nailed it.
This film also had more humor, believe it or not, than the first two prequels. Yoda throwing the huge Imperial guards against the wall with the Force was a riot.

3. That was Ani's final petulant outburst...
Before becoming a REAL badass.

5. Vader's "NOOOO" was haunting, and entirely apropos
Fans just don't understand that the Vader of Episode III is not the tyro we see in the classic trilogy: he is a scorched 23 year old in a casket suit who thinks he just murdered his beloved (Palpatine's grin at telling this lie is one of the film's most memorable images). And his gestures were gloriously melodramatic. I also see a nice parallel to Luke's "NOOOO" in ESB.

It was brazen of Lucas not to give the fans what they wanted--a bad-ass Vader; what we are presented with instead is a black-suited Gollum.

4. I loved that opening battle sequence
It was hard to follow, but for me that was part of the enjoyment.

I didn't think the dialogue was that bad, i.e. there was nothing that was cringe-inducing, like the Padme/Anakin scenes in Clones.
