11. sorry, no
you have to ride on the plane. This is a fantasy after all, no reality permitted.

However, if I ever have a giant endowment to distribute, I will definitely keep you in mind. Good luck!

we could debate the female rapper/feminism question ad infinitum, while guzzling giant drinks and eating mangoes or whatever local fruits are appealing.

you seem to be well above the pack at this point, Mark. ;)

Suspect my husband might complain a bit, though. He was the one who introduced me to Bitches Brew.

You'll likely land at Honolulu Int'l National airport, don't spend more than a couple days on Ohau, there's much nicer islands like

or

http://www.gohawaii.com/maui

28. I was kinda locked up on a Marine base most of the time
but getting out was nice, the beach in Waikiki is almost always alive and lightly illuminated at night by those things you see on Survivor. (forgot the name)

But, definitely check out the other islands, it's tempting to stay on Oahu because it's really pretty, but the other islands are a lot less 'touristy'

13. Hawaii, expensive and dirty....
those promo photos of Hawaii are fake. I found Hawaii ugly, dirty and filled with ghettos where the poor natives are forced to live. To see a waterfall, you must hike five miles inside a rain forrest.

46. Man, your tour company must have sucked big time
What island was this? "Ghettos" sounds like O'ahu; yes, we've got 'em, but it's not like the streets are filled with the sound of gunfire every night like in mainland ghettos. On the Neighbor Islands, the "ghettos" are actually mostly scattered around rural areas, often in the wetter windward areas less favored by tourists.

Also on O'ahu is Manoa Falls; you have to hike through about 500 yards of rain forest to get there, 1000 if you go from the public bus stop. What you describe sounds like Sacred Falls; it is no longer even possible to hike up there due to a fatal rockslide a few years ago.

Dirty? That's gotta be Waikiki; it kind of depends where you go. Again, there has been (or had been, under our former, non-clueless mayor) an effort to revitalize the place (hula stage on the beach, etc.) No place that size that has 70 to 90 thousand visitors at any given time is ever going to be really clean.

Wow! Promo photos fake? Who ever heard of such a thing? I'm sure that, for instance, San Francisco is an unending cornucopia of bridge views, cable cars, and sourdough, with nary a homeless person in sight. :sarcasm:

Aloha!
