I mean, I know I have to slice it.

But are there any pineapple slicing experts here?

(Yes, I'm serious. Pathetic, but serious.)

1. Yum.
Cut off the top and bottom with a sharp knife. The flat bottom now enables you some stability when you slice the skin off. Place pineapple upright and slice the skin off close to the surface.

2. Get a nice long knife
Peel the thing.

Slice it down the center, or core it (if you can) and then slice it... at that point, it's really up to you. You could, for example, hack off big chunks, plop 'em into a blender with some OJ, coconut liquer, perhaps a shot of gin or vodka, and crushed ice, and have a nice frosty mixed drink.

4. These are sooooo good! It is however, a bit of a pain to cut!
I agree with the first poster: cut off top and bottom. Then, however, I cut it in half. And then each half into halves. Now you have quarters. Then I cut the core off of each quarter; this is easy, since the core will be the point of each quarter. Then I slice down between the skin and the pineapple itself; you will lose some of the pineapple, but that's OK, there's a lot to eat still! And then at the last, chop however you want. It will be juicy and messy, but oh so wonderful! Enjoy!

5. Here is how I do it:
1) Slice off top and bottom.
2) Stand on end and slice down the middle.
3) Stand each half on end and slice down the middle again.
4) Stand each quarter on end and slice the center off - its a bit tough.
5) Carefully (or you lose either fingers or too much pineapple) slice the back of the pineapple off of each quarter. I do this with the quarter standing on end as well, but please be carefull and you have to use a sharp knife.

6) slice the whole thing into sections and put the mess into tupperware and in the fridge. It keeps for at least a week. The juice runs down into the bottom of the container and is super yummy.

Damn I LOVE PINEAPPLES.

6. Once you have it sliced,
squeeze a little honey and a sprinkle of brown sugar and stick it under the broiler . . .
When its bubbly and lightly brown, pull it out and splash a little brandy on top.
Yum.

7. Actually, it's impossible to slice them up...
You're stuck with it now, Lex. Get used to it.
I suggest you put a hat on it and name it Spaulding or something like that...

8. Wait for it to rot, then eat the falling chucks.
Or you could get a machete like in the movies and hack it to bits.

Really, they are a pain the ass it cut, but worth the effort in taste, if it's fresh.

So fresh and so clean.

I like to eat pineapple by a tree, with plenty of room to watch for predatory mammals.

11. just........
twist off the leaves, lay the pineapple on its side, and slice it like a loaf of bread. Then peel and core each slice. I just cut off the peel and eat the slices with my fingers--around the core, like an apple. That's my favorite recipe for ripe pineapple! If you want to serve the pineapple chilled, I suggest that you chill it whole, then slice and peel after it's cold.
