Poll question: Favorite fictional Saturday Morning T.V. Rock band.
Edited on Sun May-08-05 12:00 PM by Longgrain
Since all these threads about TV nostalgia are bringing me back, which of the following bands was the greatest (and I expect some good explanations as too why)...

Here goes...

7. I'm not sure I agree, I mean they were sexy and all
Edited on Sun May-08-05 12:13 PM by Longgrain
But there music just didn't seem to have the same creative edge as some of the other groups mentioned. In fact I can't for the life of me remember a single one of their hit songs other than the opening theme.

12. Well it was their sexiness then that carried the day as well as the
name of their group-JOSIE and The PUSSYCATS. It's all in the mind anyway when it comes to musical hacks formulating Saturday morning tv cartoons to capture the youth market.

And as to the question of "Is there any redeeming artisitic value or merit even present in such dreck?" who really knows?

An asides the point, I was going to include the Jackson Five on the poll, but I only wished they were fictional.

It's really only Micheal I'm peeved with, and you're right, they were pretty soulful back in the day.

17. That's better.
The Jackson Five were a first-rate soul group, despite their novelty factor and Michael's later dalliances with insanity and whiteness.

18. Oh I forgot they had a band...
They must not have made much of an impression on me, or I would have listed them instead of the Hudson Brothers, who were a real singing group before having their own show, and even had a few good hit albums.

becuase while I neve rliked the show while earthbound, it suddenly acquired deeper meaning when the Pussycats had to travel from world to world, solving global problems and singing rehashed pop songs....

Yes, i was a very disturbed child ;-)

24. I don't remember who it was, but I think it was the guy from the
Grassroots (if anyone else remember them) who composed all their music.

I used to have a tape of their songs, they were actually pretty sophisticated for Saturday Morning kiddie TV shows.

How can you not love lyrics like this....

Jingle Jangle
By: The Archies
(Jeff Barry & Andy Kim)
1969

Sing me, sing me, sing me
Sing me, sing me baby
Oooooooh!

Uh!

La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, sing me yeah
La da da lada da
Sing the Jingle Jangle song
La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, baby yeah
La da da lada da

Ever since I metcha, I couldn't wantcha better
I couldn't love you stronger if I tried
It's my true heart I'm showin' or my nose would be growin'
You know that it gets longer when I lie
Singin'...

La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, sing me yeah
La da da lada da
Sing the Jingle Jangle song
La da da lada da
Oo! sing me, baby yeah
La da da lada da

Bein' kinda pretty and down here in the city
You'll find it isn't easy to be smart
When tryin' to untangle the jingle from the jangle
It's easy if you listen with your heart
Singin'

La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, sing me yeah
La da da lada da
Sing the Jingle Jangle song
La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, baby yeah
La da da lada da

You'll make the winter springtime and jingle jangle sing time
Right on through the summer and the fall
So darlin' don't be weepin' and please don't you be sleepin'
When I come a creepin' down the hall
Singin'

La da da lada da
Sing me, sing me, sing me yeah
La da da lada da

male: Oh come on
baritone: Oh come on
female: Baby get it together
male: Oh ho come on
baritone: Oh come one
female: Ooh, yeah yeah yeah, yeah
male: Woah c'mon!
baritone: Oh come on
female: Baby get it together
male Woah, come on
baritone: Oh come on
all together: C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon
Come on

La da da lada da
Sing the Jingle Jangle song
La da da lada da
Oo!, sing me, baby yeah
La da da lada da
Sing the Jingle Jangle song
La da da lada da
Oo!, sing me, baby yeah
