Study: Meanness in Girls Can Start at 3

Meanness in girls can start when they still are toddlers, a Brigham Young University study found. It found that girls as young as 3 or 4 will use manipulation and peer pressure to get what they want.

2. My Daughter was the perfect child until
she tuned 12 and peer presure took over. So I don't believe that study

3. I have seen some really nasty, pissed off and manipulative 4 year olds
Glad your daughter was good til 12. Means it might just be a phase. But some younger girls can be pretty nasty and calculating. And they do not like getting called on it.

I had dealings with one who could not be trusted with her infant sister from the time the baby was born, which was when the older girl was a mere 2. By the time she was 4 she was totally adept at bringing her little sister to a complete emotional meltdown if the younger child did not give in to her every whim. And she seldom got caught at it by her parents.

She also noticed the boy in the family got special attention, perks and privileges because of his gender. She had that figured out by age 3. She put her sister's pacifier down her pants then pointed to it while telling her mom she deserved such and such now cuz she had one of 'those things'. Pretty radical for a 3 year old? Maybe. Or maybe we too often sell their intelligence and observations skills short.
