I'm looking for a new church family.
Do any proud Democratic, liberal DUers want to visit "East Waynesville Baptist Church" with me this Sunday?

2. I can't decide if I'm joking or if I'm serious.
My hair is really long now, but I'd love to go back to my short, spiky pixie cut, drive to North Carolina tomorrow, and attend church with my son on Sunday morning.

Seriously, I don't know if I mean this or not. I'm really thinking about doing it.

7. I was raised in a Baptist church...
and while a great majority of church members were Republicans, no one attempted to punish me because I was a very outspoken Democrat.

sure, people joked with me about my politics, and I joked back, but no one ever even suggested that I should look for another church to attend. (Maybe it's because my father is a powerful deacon in the church. Or maybe it's because they knew I would never back down from my political views, and I would challenge them, if they challenged me. Who knows.)

I'm no longer a Baptist, even though my name is still on the church membership list. I am a member of no denomination, although I consider myself a spiritual person.

The Democrats being kicked out of the EW Baptist Church just struck a chord with me. If I knew that Democrats were going to gather at the church on Sunday morning to protest, I'd seriously consider traveling to North Carolina to be there with them.

9. Seriously who the hell did that pastor think he was
Speaking of church in a whole sense, I had to deal with some homophobic fundies today in english, good grief, its messed up when after 6 years pof post primary school people still have the same bigoted views about gays.

17. I would have to drive all day tomorrow to be there.
Fortunately, for me, half of the trip would be through the beautiful Apalachians, so it would be an enjoyable drive.

I'm serious, FSC. I am seriously thinking of driving up. I can't believe that I'm even thinking about this.

I've never driven further than 100 miles to express my political views. But this....oh this....well, the pastor and his congregation's behavior pisses me off to the extreme that it would take very little encouragement for me to pack my bags, load my son, and spend my Mother's Day protesting these assholes.

:grr:

18. You go, sistah Maddy.
I'm a LITTLE further away than that. I just can't do it right now, unfortunately. I'm swamped at work, and would be in no shape to keep going if I went.

But I'm right behind you if you go. Take a digital camera, and a mini tape recorder.

We need as much evidence against these assholes as we can get.

19. I'm in Arkansas, and too far away
but if I was near, I'd go and wear a specially made tee shirt saying ALL ROADS LEAD TO HEAVEN-showing the symbols of the major relgions as petals of a flower.
