Neat new candy product: tabacoo-free snuff in exciting flavors
Edited on Thu Apr-21-05 05:52 PM by Kellanved

Just caught a report about this one. The new product by the world-market leader for snuff tabacco: " Himalaya - refreshment for the nose, natural and without tobacco.".
I have to say, a fascinating idea. Those marketing guys are really brilliant, :eyes:. Finally a way to snuff a white powder in public - and best of all: it is also for kids.

PS: it is also available with strawberrry flavor.

3. It really seems to be intended for children
Which is IMHO rather disturbing.

4. it gets kids into the habit of using it-
then it's just a small jump to actual tobacky once they're of age.

a lot of tobacco use has to do with the "ritual"

6. It's a training aid
Snuff in Europe is different from snuff in the US.

US snuff is actually called "smokeless tobacco." You put a pinch between your cheek and your gum.

In Europe, snuff is nasal tobacco. It's a very fine powder that you snort, like cocaine, and because it's white it even looks like cocaine, at least from a distance.

I would imagine that when you first start doing snuff, you sneeze a whole lot. It's dust, and when I inhale dust I sneeze. So you come out with tobacco-free snuff, sell it to kids, and by the time they're old enough to buy tobacco snuff they've quit sneezing.

This is like selling tobacco-free cigarettes to kids so they'll know how to smoke when they turn 18.

2. I grew up with candy cigarettes, oh so cool as a 6 yr old

Candy Cigarette Addictions Are No Treat

HERSHEY, PA-- The candy cigarette industry is smoking-mad about new government legislation forcing the sweet-treat producing manufacturers to increase the size of warning labels on candy cigarette cartons and packs. These labels will now be required to cover at least 50% of the packaging, and must advise consumers of the dangers of those delicious cigarette-shaped candy confections.

Candy cigarette packages now contain labels that warn about the dangers of consuming candy cigarettes. Some of the recommended candy cigarette labels include: Sugar Can Promote Tooth Decay; Candy Cigarettes Can Spoil Your Dinner; and Consumption May Interfere With Your Body's Ability To Absorb Calcium And Magnesium.

"This is a great step," says Doris DeLangen, 32, of Chicago, IL. "If they had warning labels on candy when I was young, I probably wouldn't be overweight now, I might still have all my teeth, and I likely wouldn't have this all-consuming passion for Milk Duds."

Candy cigarettes have already been banned in countries such as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. But then, those countries have also outlawed alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, kissing in public, and deathmatch monster-truck racing.

5. well
In this instance we have a tobacco company producing the candy. The other difference is, that you don't actually smoke candy cigarettes.
The candy snuff really is for snuffing.

7. I'm not downplaying this, don't get me wrong.
I am amazed that they still have candy ciggies and now snuff. All this stuff is meant to do is encourage smoking later by either developing the habit or romanticizing it. Being made outright by a tobacco company is also amazing as they usually hide behind one of their member companies. This is all wrong.
