Bubba Sparxxx "Deliverance"
Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 05:58 PM by LincolnMcGrath
On edit added lyrics

I've been travelin for some time (echo)
With my fishin pole and my bottle of shine (echo)
On these long dark dusty roads (echo)
Lookin there's nowhere to go
I guess I gotta hide away, far away
Cause I gotta find a way, to find my way
I gotta hide away, far away
Cause I gotta find a way, to find my way
Ay-ay-ay ay-ay-ay aaay

I left off of mama's with my thumb in the wind
The leaves on the ground, winter's comin again
Solid on the surface as I crumble within
But legends are made out of honorable men
So on the brink of death I still manage livin life
Cause so rarely in this world are these chances given twice
I indeed sold my soul, without glancing at the price
No instructions when I was handed this device
But with what I did get, I was more than generous
Put others over self on several instances
But I'm back on my feet without a hint of bitterness
And one way or another I shall have deliverance
So I say

Can you recall a time people loved you unconditionally?
Toast in the new south, this one is for history
Then I slipped fell and caused the number's injury
Called the same people and it's yo you just missed them B
This the formula, dammit Bubba you had it
Why'd you have to keep it Polo and New Balance?
Then they start to question whether you a true talent
Or just a redneck substance of used hammock
So then you hide away just to try to find your way
And now they back to callin you 200 times a day
I want all y'all to know, good or bad I'll remember it
And 10 million sold in the name of my deliverance

Nothing could atone for the pain you've endured
The blood you shed is still stained in your valor
You took your wealth and knowledge and gave it to the poor
Only to discover that your savior's manure
Accepted me as kin, put before your younger brother
They put a lot on us hardly knowin one another
I honestly can say that over time I've come to love you
Now we are brothers and together no one can touch us
It hauls me with regret I never met your baby girl
She's an angel on your shoulder helpin us to save the world
This musical marriage is no coincedence
So my mama to me baby we shall have deliverance
So we say

Like it?

How about "Hey Ya" by Outkast

1. Outkast is always good
Bombs Over Baghdad may be one of the best rap songs ever, maybe only behind "Till I Collapse" by Eminem.

6. A reason I respect Bubba
is he didn't sign with some prick like Jermaine Dupri (who if I were president I would declare an Enemy Combatant and have him shipped off to Gitmo), and signed with one of the best producers, Timbaland.

Personally I blame JD, Diddy, and Nelly for the decline in rap music. It seems like only Bubba Sparxxx, Eminem, Outkast, and Scarface have anything original to say. It's refreshing to put in "The Eminem Show" and not hear 15 songs about "ho's", "Dubs," flossing, and "bling bling."

If only more rappers decided that being creative like Marshal, Big BOI, Dre (both the doctor and from Outkast), and Bubba will lead to immortality not being the same as every other motherfucker with a mic.

You hit the nail on the head. Some of his lyrics maybe bullshit, but damn I really appreciate listening to a rap album that doesnt sound like all the others.

13. Why do I blame him?
You mean other than the videos for Bow Wow where some 12 year old girls are doing shit that if I had video files of them doing the same thing, I could be arrested for having child porn on my computer? Or maybe for unleashing Kriss Kross when I was ten and thus making me "out of touch" with rap when I said they suck and that the NWA and Dr. Dre are much better (Fuck the Police is a great song). I also despise how he had the balls to say he's better than Dre and Tim. Oh, and he makes random noises in whatever song he's a part of, IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING!!

15. K K was overplayed for sure
What if Kriss Kross brought a new fan to hip hop/rap in general?

16. I am sure they did, and brought many
and that is why shit like Nelly, Diddy, Bow Wow, and others like them are so fucking popular now. It's this Bubblegum Rap shit that's ruining the genre. I loved rap so much when it was all about killing and gang banging and drugs, though I don't do any of those three. Rap is so mellow and hollow now, and it can be blamed on MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and Kris Kross who made people realize that if you dumb down the genre to the point where 98% of the "artists" are releasing the same song under a different title, the music may be acceptable to uptight white people who don't want to hear Snoop telling a story about being murdered and brought back to life, only to be imprisoned, but want to hear that pussy Nelly talk about "I drive land rovers and when the AC isn't on it's getting hot in therrrre!"

18. My vision isn't clouded per se...
I'm not anti-Rap. I love rap, it is the only music I listen to when I'm not listening to Bob Dylan (I'm an odd 20 year old to say the least), but what I'm seeing is what happened to Rock music when Disco came out. A million "artists" flock to the genre made up of shitty rhythms topped only by atrocious lyrics and saturate the market with horrid music, and when disco died, the "artists" went to the hair metal shit which seemed to have more fucking love songs than any other type of song.

These rants are more about how people for the most part want music that doesn't make them think about what they're listening to, and being an intellectual (and obviously modest) I get really angry about that type of crap. I listen to Sean Hannity who praises a song like "Independence Day" for its content and get really upset. I listened to the song, and it's Martina McBride singing about how her mom was so abused that in the end she burned her house while she was in it as well as Martina McBride's father. I like the song, but to say the content is good is ridiculous if one is trying to be a moral conservative. Now I got on a rant about the stupidity of Hannity. It's like the six degrees of Kevin Bacon, somehow everything relates to just how fucking stupid that son of a bitch is.

20. Bubba Sparxxx is talented
but I can name probaly 4 or 5 other good rappers, rap just isn't what it used to be since the mid 90's and late 80's. 50 Cent, I like his style but his lyrics are crap "I love you like a fat kid loves cake" :wtf: I just don't like the music anymore, just isn't what it used to be.

Could it be the airways play less hip hop music that you feel is quality?
