Black quarterback passes 277 yards, media very pleased
MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 19, 2003) -- After opening the season with five wins against weak opponents, the Minnesota Vikings looked at Week 7's game against the Denver Broncos as a credibility test.

Well, they sure passed.

Minnesota's Black quarterback passed for two touchdowns, and the Viking's intercepted Denver's Caucasian quarterback three times before holding on for the victory.

The Black quarterback threw for 277 yards in his return at quarterback, the defense knocked the white quarterback out of the game, and the Vikings beat Denver 28-20.

Randy Moss had 10 receptions for 151 yards, and his lateral to Moe Williams on the final play of the first half led to a 59-yard score for the Vikings (6-0).

Denver (5-2) nearly rallied behind third-string quarterback Danny Kanell (Caucasian), who went 12 for 18 for 104 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured starting Caucasian quarterback.

"Danny did a good job. If he did a great job, we would've won," wide receiver Rod Smith said.

The Bronco's Caucasian quarterback, playing in place of injured starter Jake Plummer (also Caucasian), completed 9 of 19 passes for 119 yards and three interceptions before leaving in the third quarter with a dislocated finger on his throwing hand. He was sacked five times.

The Viking's Black quarterback, who broke several bones in his back on a hit in the second quarter against Detroit on Sept. 21, looked as spry as usual -- though he was off target on a handful of long throws. He finished 19 for 26 with two touchdowns, one to Campbell in the first quarter. "I feel great," the Black quarterback said. "On a scale of one to 10, I feel like I'm a dime."

1. I hate people making this a racial issue

Yes Daunte Culpepper is great and one of the best qb's in the league but caucasian QB Danny Kanell almost orchestrated a 15 point QB comeback. They wouldn't of even been in that situation of Boreline didn't throw 3 interceptions he played horrible just like he did against Pittsburgh. But congratulations, the Vikings beat the Broncos who didn't have their starting QB or their best defensive player. But :toast: to Daunte Culpepper, he will have a great and prosperous career in the NFL despite what Rush says.

5. You gotta forgive Beuerlein just for his poor pinky!
Ay ay ay, saw it on TV when it happened, then on every replay thereafter... just made me cringe.

A tough test for my Vikes, to be sure, but would have been a whole lot tougher had Plummer been in the game.

Helps to have magical things going your way - like the hook & ladder at the end of the first half!

6. I was cringing when I seen that happen
but I think Buerlein being out of the game was the best thing that happened to the Broncos.(note I didn't say injured) Culpepper and McNair are in the top 3 when it comes to QB rating and very deserving. But I just get tired of people saying see black qb did better then white qb!

2. Let's also not forget
That Detroit's WHITE quarterback was way overrated by conservative media, which is desirous that a white quarterback do well...(snicker)

"Harrington completed five of 13 passes for 30 yards -- good for a 7.1 passer rating -- before he was relieved by McMahon, who missed his first seven throws and eventually went 5-for-20 for 51 yards and one interception, an 18.8 passer rating. "
That was 7.1 out of 158.3....

And as Rush pointed out, the Lions didn't even consider hiring a black coach before hiring their white one...(Of course, Rush was bent out of shapoe that anyone even thought the Lions SHOULD consider one black candidate).

4. Harrington is only in his second year
No one is putting him on their top 5 lists so I don't see how he is overrated. Yes he had a bad but so alot of QB's, Elway once threw 5 interceptions in a game before, I wonder what his QB rating was that day.

7. Ummmmm.....
It was a JOKE....Hello-o-o-o-o-o??

Did you really think I was implying that Harrington owed his job to Bill Buckley and rest of the right wing media?

9. Meanwhile, the small college darlings of DU
The mighty Linfield Wildcats dispatched another hapless opponent, squashing Eastern Oregon by 130-14 or some such humiliating final score. The Linfield signal caller (who is white, and what's it to ya?) threw for five touchdowns for the third time this year as the 'Cats improved to 5-0 and clinched their 46th consecutive winning season.

15. Okay, maybe it was only 56-14
I forget. The last time the 'Cats had a player in the NFL was in the 1980s, a part-time punt returner for Kansas City, Paul Dombrowski. Players in NAIA Division II and NCAA Division III are for the most part the undersized or underspeed guys who still want to compete for a few more years. No athletic scholarships, no prospects beyond college except for coaching or semi-pro ball. One of the few area small collegiate players in the NFL is Jon Kitna of the Bengals, who played for Central Washington.

I think the closest thing Linfield has to an NFL connection anymore is that Mike Riley, currently coaching Oregon State, and formerly the coach of the San Diego Chargers, was an assistant coach in the late 1970s at Linfield.

and getting alot of coverage for it on ESPN on other networks that talk football. Everytime Tennessee is mentioned, so is McNair. Green Bay is not a major market but Farve has gotting alot of coverago over the years.
