4 days in the hospital....I'm baaack!
For those of you who were wondering, no, Tom DeLay didn't get me. I woke up Monday morning wheezing and gasping for breath, the inhalers were no help. To make matters worse, I was running a fever and vomited until I dry heaved. I ended up going to the ER, thinking I just needed a couple of breathing treatments, and didn't leave for four days. They thought I had pneumonia, I was admitted to IMCU. I was on oxygen and every possible monitor, and they were taking daily chest x-rays. They decided that it wasn't pnuemonia, just an upper respiratory infection from hell, which, when combined with my asthma made for very bad news. The first night I was there, I got breathing treatments every two hours, after that it was every four. They let me go home Thursday afternoon, and a nebulizer was delivered to my house last night (after waiting all day) because once off the breathing treatments I was out of breath in a few steps again.

The good news is that I haven't had a cigarette since Sunday, and I'm basically fine with that. The bad news is, I probably won't be posting a whole lot right away. I have terrible veins that collapse and roll, and both arms and hands are covered in bruises and swollen, to the point where I'm taking Advil to reduce the pain. The kids are at the inlaws for the weekend to give me more recovery time, which I'm finding that I need. They couldn't see me in the hospital because no one under 14 is allowed in IMCU, and my oldest is just 11. They were thrilled to see me Thursday afternoon, but very upset that I wasn't at full speed. Hopefully by the time they come home sunday, I'll be ready for them.

Now get this...My compassionate conservative rethuglican bosses have not called me once. I've left daily messages, including direct numbers to my hospital rooms, and not once have they called me. They didn't call my house, my cell, nothing. Yesterday was supposed to me payday, and I couldn't get anyone. I have their cell numbers, home number, and office number, all of which have caller ID, none of which are answered.

4. Thanks
It felt great to be able to sleep in today, since I got no sleep at the hospital. As soon as I'd doze off, they'd come in to poke and prod me.

2. Why would a person with asthma smoke ?

Isn't that kind of a death wish thing ?

3. I started smoking years before I was diagnosed
The asthma is adult onset, diagnosed a couple of years ago...I'd been trying to quit smoking, but never quite made it. I do believe I'm done now.

7. Thanks
I've gone nearly a week...I really have had very little urge for a cig. My husband is either going outside to smoke, or he's going to the bathroom and hitting the vent to suck it up. My asthma has never been this bad before, great motivation to quit.

8. Well, I kind of need the insurance right about now
As of yesterday it's still good, the nebulizer cost me $35 for the machine and the meds. I have to follow up with the lung doc Thursday, they won't clear me to work yet.

9. I'm going to go chill for a while
I'll check back in later. I have tons of catching up to do, since the hospital I was in didn't even have basic cable. I have no idea what had happened this week, except that Tom DeLay was making the local news for being an idiot.

Sorry about the crummy bosses turning invisible on you.

Maybe someone can help you track them down on Monday so you can get paid.

16. I am resting
Not much else to do right now. My mother in law was here Wednesday night with the kids while hubby worked, and she cleaned my house and did my laundry. The cats are glad that I'm home, the kids are gone for the weekend.

The breathing treatments wire me up, so I might not be sleeping a lot, but I'mn not running ragged either.
