"Superficial" fashion mogul KARL LAGERFELD has lost a staggering 40 kilograms (90 pounds) on a bizarre diet of horse meat and Diet Coke.

The white-haired couturier is preparing to share his slimming secrets with the world, in the shape of THE KARL LAGERFELD DIET, which hits bookstores next month (MAY05).

In the tome, the German admits his decision to trim was entirely based on vanity.

He tells PAGESIX.COM, "It was for totally superficial reasons that I got started on this diet.

Never mind the fact that the Atkins diet has sunk like a rock. We'll ignore the ugly truth that this diet seems to be causing a strain on the heart, as well as fatty build-up deposits on arteries, not to mention bad breath from eating bacon and Linguiza 5 meals a day.
