My wife and I are having trouble finding things to do as a couple,
well, except for, you know...

But she's active, likes to jog, skate, do pilates, etc.

I'm not very active, certainly not a workout guy, I'm a professional musician, so I play a lot, I like to see concerts and movies.

I think finding some activities we can do together would bring us closer, and help us enjoy the beautiful spring weather we're having here in Columbus Ohio. I'll try anything, and I'm a good sport, so let me have it, lounge lizards...

3. ballroom dancing
you don't need to be a workout guy to do it and your musical background should help you pick it right up.

My hubby and I took several months worth of lessons last year and loved it! (Been married 10 years and were starting to run out of new ways to spend time together except for, you know...)

5. When I dance,
I usually try to have a beer in each hand, so when people see me they just think I'm trying not to spill my drinks.

I've got a tee shirt that says,"Hug a musician, they can't dance"you'd think I could dance, but no. Maybe it's because I'm used to making the music people dance to, maybe I'm just too self-conscious. I know how that sounds..."how can you play in front of people, but not dance in front of people"
I'm so confident in my playing I never worry about what other people think...but maybe with lessons, as you suggest, I'll do o.k.

6. Travel . . . it's not that expensive if you stay in really cheap hotels
which you can find in Lonely Planet guides.

Also, nothing like poking through art museums and then dining in a restaurant in which you order by pointing to an entree based on the one word that you think you might know in that language to bring a couple closer together.

is about 2 hours away. We did go to Europe last summer, and we're off to Vegas in June. Travelling is a great idea, and we love it.

Truth be told, I"m trying to figure out what to do on a lazy saturday afternoon/evening, like today.

Goodboy, I'd just enjoy being together. A lot of people, like me, don't have that and wish they did. I'm in Cleveland and my mom's family all lives in Columbus, so I'm familiar with that area. There are a lot of beautiful parks in that area, maybe you guys could take a walk there or in one of the nature areas or metroparks?

14. It'll be easier to quit smoking if you start exercising first
Simply walking is a great place to start. It doesn't require research, or special equipment; and you don't have to worry about your joints getting out of whack.

I auditioned for the symphony there once, but didn't get anywhere.

Does your wife enjoy concerts? Maybe you could find a series that you'd both enjoy, and get season tickets.

You may find it to be less rigerous than jogging, but she'll probably enjoy it as well. I'd find some decent trails (maybe a public park or something). Hiking might also be fun.

22. It is weird that you are asking
The answer is for you to do with her some of the things she likes to do (jog, skate, do pilates), and for her to do some of the things you like to do (come watch you play, go to concerts and movies).

I sense a distance and selfishness in your relationship. This isn't rocket science. It is called sharing.

WTF is your problem, Floogeldy? He came here asking for ideas. He didn't attack anybody. It's legitimate to seek out new experiences, and since he wants to do so with his wife, it seems the opposite of being selfish and self-involved, as you seem to think it is.

You apparently have no constructive input into this conversation, so why bother to post here?

Edited on Sun Apr-10-05 02:56 AM by FarceOfNature
I planted a garden with my boyfriend, and we put a lot of time and effort into arranging things by seasonal growth, color, etc. And then to watch it grow as the weeks go by, and nurture something together, and get dirty together, it's very fulfilling. It's also better than having a kid, since you get to create something aline together but it doesn't need its diapers changed.

Lots of art galleries, restaurants, etc.

Wait until they have one of the "Art Walks", then spend the day together down there.

(from an OSU alum who gets to Columbus every once in a while, and remembers when the Short North was strip clubs and pawn shops)

taking a walk

boules/bocci/lawn bowling

badminton

frisbee

picnics
