Courtney Love to Play Linda Lovelace
Rocker/actress Courtney Love will portray U.S. porn star Linda Lovelace in a biographical movie about the Deep Throat celebrity.

Deep Throat was released in 1972 and featured such graphic depictions of oral sex that the White House banned the film, XFM reported Tuesday.

But it became a global success, earning an estimated $600 million.

Lovelace later became an anti-porn campaigner, maintaining she was coerced into making the film. She died in 2002 at the age of 53 of injuries from a car crash.

Love played a porn icon in 1996 when she starred as Althea Leasure, wife of porn publisher Larry Flynt, in the film The People Vs Larry Flynt.

3. Did you ever read her biography "Ordeal"?
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 07:59 PM by Cleita
It was published around the early 1980s. She convinced me that she was a battered woman. Back in those days you had to have broken bones and poked out eyes to be taken seriously so a lot of people thought she was being disingenuous and in it for the money when her fifteen minutes of fame was over. She was also definitely a rape victim on many levels and was pushed into prostitution. The porn actress thingy was only a side job her husband/pimp arranged for her.

I really believe Courtney Love had more consensual sex in her life than Linda Lovelace ever did.

5. That sounds interesting.
I may have to dig up a copy at Half Price Books just out of curiosity.

8. I think you may have to dredge libraries for this one.

Since I believe it originally came out only in paperback, it might be hard to find. It was one of those things you read at the beach and then throw away. But it stayed with me in my head all those years afterwards as the words sunk in.

14. You'd be amazed at what you can find at Half Price Books here...
We go to "The Mothership" several times a month, and always find something interesting, novel, and/or out of print! I ADORE the place.

Paperbacks Plus is also a good spot. We make the rounds all the time.

I'll keep an eye out for it!

13. Yeah and isn't this Kurt Cobain's "suicide" anniversary of 1994?
I feel very sorry for Frances Bean right now.

10. Courtney may be crazy, but she is a good actress...
You have to give her that. Remember The People V. Larry Flint? She was great in that.

12. Yeah, it was a real stretch of a role for her to play Althea.
A slutty hanger-on? It's the role she was born to play.

If Lovelace hadn't died, it would only be a matter of time until she played Love in a bio-pic, or vice-versa...
