how long will the Pope-apalooza last?
I'm glad I've been watching the coverage. He's still dead at last report, BTW. If I hadn't been listening, I wouldn't know that the Pope, like Reagan, died for our sins and on the third day rose again. nor would I know that right up to his last day, he worshipped at a little George Bush shrine, thanking Gawd for the little bushturd's war against evil Dewars.

1. Nine days of official mourning, or so I've heard.
Get used to it.

2. Its bound to happen
There are many Catholics in this country and world. I don't like a media circus but when the head of a major faith or religion dies, it will be in the news.

3. 9 days of mourning and then a pope election after day 15
And that can take several days. Then the intro to the new pope. April will be pope month. Then may day and cinco de Mayo. :woohoo:

and age. In 1979, we only had 3 channels and pope-apalooza dominated all 3. We didn't have cable, the few cable channels that existed were far too expensive for the average citizen. We had no VCR or DVD movies. We were stuck.

We had one pope die, his funeral, the election of a new pope (JPI) and then his death, his funeral and the election of JPII in a matter of 2 to 3 months. Talk about pope-apalooza.

And talk about false reporting, NBC reported seeing white smoke coming from the vatican chimney when it was black smoke. They had to apologize for the mistake.

Turn the channel to some cable movie or watch a DVD. This is history in the making, the end of an era and the beginning of a new era. It is actual news.
