Anyone else find the Pope's passing depressing?
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 03:41 PM by _TJ_
I didn't agree with some of this politics - but he was a TRUE
humanitarian. He believed in the sanctity of life in a way
that RW fundy idiots will NEVER understand.

I am a lapsed Catholic who has a serious dislike of the catholic church
- but I can honestly say this man's death makes me feel great
sadness :(

1. Not in the least. The attention whore finally got done dying
I didn't want him to die necessarily (unless we end up getting a better pope) but once he started to die I wanted it the fuck over with.

for him to die. I mean, I don't actually think he's being an attention whore. I sort of am kidding, sort of. Making a complaint involving him not at him.

5. I feel a little sad,
he was one of the vocal few that valued life above profit. I'm sure he has gone on to his reward.

7. Not as sad as I am about the millions who have died
as a direct result of the policies of his Church (and of course other churches & religions).

9. I had some tears and a clutching at the throat --
I felt the same way when Terri died. These are both human beings. His papacy wasn't the worst I've ever heard of, but religion reaps both plusses and minuses for me, at least. At best, the principles are wonderful. However, I hate the way people fight over them.

My husband's father, whom I never knew, had a favorite expression.
He used to say, "It's a good world. It's the people who ruin it."

God bless................

The world is full of humanitarian people. Its not like we've lost them all. Get a grip.

10. As a 15 Year Old
I am a Christian but Im not very chrisitan because I dont go to Church or read the bible at all (never done either besides Church a few times) I hate their values and their way of thinking mostly I see this as.

I am not really depressed about the Popes death. I find it saddening but not personally because Im not Catholic or Religous for that matter. I see the Popes death as a progression for the twenty-first Century. Now is the time when this generation will begin to live history and maybe 50 years from now Ill be sitting around my TV with my grandchildren watching the coverage of the next Popes death saying I remember seeing Pope John Paul II die.

Just a thought

11. Not in a crying way, but in a respectful way...
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 04:06 PM by Longgrain
I was raised Catholic, no longer practicing, but I've been having some mixed feelings lately. I still see the Pope as a man who's made some moves I disagreed with, but did try to bring peace to the world.

So yeah, I guess I feel sad...

12. Sorry to say, no, I don't
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 04:03 PM by primate1
The man meant nothing to me. I know he meant a lot to many people here, and I respect that, but to me, he was just another religious leader I disagreed with on a lot of things. I did respect his opposition to the war and such too, so I will say that he wasn't as bad as a Falwell or Robertson.

I'm just indifferent I guess.

14. Not really depressing to me.
I'll show my respect for others' beliefs and not say anything else on the matter, however.
