Anyone running Windows XP Media Center?
What's the deal with this version vs. Home vs. Pro?

Might be buying a new system and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the $40 upgrade for Media version or $80 for Pro.

1. Too glitchy
THought about it. But its too tied to specific hardware and too glitchy to get up and running.

I currently use a standard Enterntainment center layout along with a Replay box (Tivo clone) and a laptop for when I want to play AVI/MPEGs. Works out great. I can even use the wireless net to pipe the vids from my main system.

2. It's like a TiVo.
It is better for running on computers through home theatre systems that is basically chiefly used for running TV shows, music, movies, etc.

3. Thanks.....
That pretty much answers that...I already have TIVO, and my system and my tv are currently not connected. At this point I ahve no need, therefore no point in going with Media Centre. I think I will go Pro however.

4. Go for it
It has almost all features of Pro, yet it is in the price class of Home. Just don't try to use it as a "Media Center"´.

5. Love it but ....
it stopped working so we are waiting for a box to send it back to Gateway to get it fixed.

My kids love it and watch their shows on it. We tape our shows on it and it is great for that.

Thankfully I have my baby, wireless laptop - when it goes down, I cry (almost).
