No one was in the store, thank god. But this drunk drove all the way through the storefront. He was still hitting the gas when the cops came. They literally had to yank the keys out of his ignition. He was arrested for intoxication. There's a restaurant next to flamingyouth's store that was packed with people at the time. If he had been at a slightly different angle there would probably be a few dead patrons there right now.

Drunken fuck. I hope they throw the book at him.

30. We did our year-end inventory and just ran an update 3 wks ago

I did a little surveying of the damage. Sadly, some really cool, one-of-a-kind pieces were lost, yet amazingly other items made it through unscathed. The whole storefront is demolished, there are holes in the walls and about six or seven fixtures are destroyed as well.

I think we can come up with a list of lost inventory by the end of the week. Thanks for the offer of help. :hug:

I just got back from there. My dad is with the crew who's boarding the place up right now. They'll probably be there until 2 or 3 am.

Check this out - he was making a fucking RIGHT TURN when he lost control of his car, drove about 10 feet on the sidewalk, barely missing a restaurant packed with people, then completely plowed through my storefront.

For those of you who don't know, I own a china shop... there's broken glass and porcelain like three feet deep. The police took pictures; when I get them I'll post some. It's one of the most amazing things I've seen.

The asshat has insurance and we're already putting that in motion at least. I think we're going to be closed for a while. I'm just grateful it happened at night when we were closed and that no one was hurt or killed at the restaurant next door. In fact, it's a freaking miracle.

The guy was so fucked up - he tried to actually back his car out of the store but it got stuck, then it started leaking gas apparently... anyway, one of the waiters and two bystanders restrained him and took his keys out of the ignition so he couldn't get away. And the police were there within minutes.

I have to write a book. For hell's sake.
