Oasis song named best soundtrack to a drinking session
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 10:15 AM by LoZoccolo
Oasis's decade-old track "Cigarettes and Alcohol", with its chugging, T-Rex riff, heads the list of all-time great boozing tracks - whether the greatest songs about the pros and cons of the demon drink, or those best-suited for raising a glass to.

I don't think there is any Beatles song at all that would even be able to be entered into this contest.

Score one for Oasis.

3. So you're basically saying...
...that The Beatles should be dishonored for having Beach Boys-style background vocals in "Back In The U.S.S.R."?

4. there's a difference between a nod to a band on one song after you're
already famous and basing your "career" (or whatever you call having 1 popular album and then fading into has-been-ness) upon ripping off a band who was actually brilliant and original for the time in which they wrote their songs...

6. Northern Ireland was the only part of the U.K. to support Bush
This is from Belfast - need one say more?

Personally I vote for Mihi est propositum by Walter de Mapp (I think), a drinking song in Latin is how things are supposed to be.

9. The Beatles' songs were all soundtracks for shooting dope
They were all about drug abuse, which is why we don't hear much about them any more unless you are a drug addict.
