What band do you regret never seeing in concert
Ok some conditions to this: First, it has to be a group you could have actually seen in concert (I would have loved to see Jimi Hendrix in concert but I was a mere toddler when he died) and it also has to be a band that no longer exists.

For me it would have to be Queen. They came to Harrisburg twice back in the late 80s but I was kinda irritated with their new music and refused to see them. Little did I know  I have 2 DVDs of Queen in concert and watching them makes me regret the decision I made so long ago.

BTW, I was suppose to see Led Zeppelin in concert for their tour to support "In through the Out Door" but well, John Bonham died  But I've seen Robert Plant in concert now 7 times and Jimmy Page 3 times (twice with Plant).

4. Plant is going on tour again
We saw him at SXSW and his new material is fabulous. I kinda got bored with some of his solo work when it started to be too much like pop music (hey it was the 80's). But his new stuff is just awesome. He'll be touring this summer and I hope to see him again (that'll be #8)

19. Miles Davis
I was in Austin some 20 years ago. There was a Reggae Sunslpash Festival on the same day and at the same time as the Miles Davis concerts.

I went to the Reggae Sunslash, it was down by the Colorado River. Somehow things got fucked up and some bands came on late. Then precisely at midnite, they cut the power off and all the sudden it was over.

Everbody was bummed, but since most of the people out there were ganja smoking hippies nobody started a riot.

But however, when I talked to all of my Jazz musician buddies who when to see Miles, they told me I missed a fantastic concert.

Miles died before I ever had the opportunity to see him again.

22. several, Clash, Ramones, Grateful Dead,

The original Clash line up with Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, etc. I saw the Clash for the 'Cut the Crap' tour after Jones left and was replaced by two folks, but it wasn't the same. The Clash were touring in the UK and Europe before Joe Strummer died.

The Ramones one last time. I've seen them like 10 times, but it was
never enough. Especially the original line up with Dee Dee Ramone.

Grateful Dead. Perhaps I would have appreciated them more if I saw them live. I like some songs, but never got into their jam's sessions.

Also on the list: The Smiths, The 'Original' Guns and Roses, Zaiko Langa Langa, Celia Cruz.

26. Queen was terrible
The time I saw them. Sound was way too loud (I was a sophomore in college at the time and my boyfriend and I both had our hands over our ears), Mercury and friends were contemptuous of the audience and for Bohemian Rhapsody, the group turned on a recording of the song and walked off stage. We walked out at that point.

BTW, I love Queen's music and still do. I just wish I could get my money back.

32. Re live Bohemian Rhapsody:
I read somewhere that BR was something they did not want to perform in concert, but it was such a monster hit, they couldn't get away with not doing it; fans kept demanding it.

There was no way to perform the operatic part of the song live, and they didn't want to lip-sync it because it was "insincere" (imagine an artist saying that today!), so they routinely just played the recorded part of the song and left the stage for the duration. Then they returned to the stage to finish the number, and the concert.

28. U2 in 1983
In May 1983 I was standing in line trying at a Denver area King Soopers (a local grocery store) to get tickets to see the Pat Metheny Group at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.
They were touring to promte their new release "OFFRAMP".

There were hundreds of kids surrounding me, most of them dressed in punk garb, who were in line to snatch up tickets to see some band I had never heard of before.
The band U2 was also slated to play Red Rocks on June 5th.

I dismissed them, knowing I was going to see the better concert.
And maybe I was right, because Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays put on a truly amazing concert.

However, I feel I missed a "once in a lifetime" event by passing on seeing U2.

For many fans, the enduring image of U2's early days will be the band's June 5, 1983 concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre -- the show made famous on the Under a Blood Red Sky video release and featured on the album.

On the day of the show, it started raining early.
By showtime the temperatures had dropped into the 40's.
In June, mind you.
But, that's Colorado and stuff like that happens.

I may see U2 in concert eventually, but I will never have the opportunity that I had back on that day.
I could have purchased tickets for both shows.
Sadly, I did not.

I missed a classic.

37. Two I Almost Made
One of my favorite musicians is Papa John Creach, who played electric violin for the Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna along with some solo work. He was playing in Arligton Va in the late 80s with a Grateful Dead tribute band and I ALMOST went to see him. But I had no one to go with and I'm not a big Dead fan. He died about ten years ago, so now I'll never see him live.

In high school, I was all set to go to a Jefferson Airplane/Traffic concert in Dayton, OH with a friend, but lost my wallet at the last minute and we had to cancel. Damn! I still miss not going.

On the other hand, I did see Miles Davis while he was still with us (his "Tutu" tour) and the Preservation Hall Band a couple of times with a lot of the old-time members, who were in their 80s and 90s.

46. Believe me, I know it.
Dorothy, among the greatest and most overlooked, used to call me up on stage because she knew I was a hoofer. Sun Ra played at Squat Theater, which was across the street from me. Sometimes he would do a two week gig there. And I would go every night.

Never saw Ella live or Lester (or the Art Ensemble) but I saw Carmen at a strange gig. I was an audience extra at a tribute to Monk TV taping. Carmen sang "Straight, No Chaser" (yes, there are words) and was having a tough time, many takes. Dizzy took her aside for a pep talk, and she came back and nailed it. The strangest part was tapper Bunny Briggs dancing to "Evidence."(!?)

Living in New York, and being into the music scene since I was a child gave me some grand opportunities. Now I brag.

I actually have the Carmen Sings Monk album, but purists ( I am not one) don't usually like it because they think the words take over the music.

I like it, though, I think it is a great addition since she was soooo good.

49. I lean toward instrumentals myself.
With a special allowance for Chet Baker. (That's for times of suffering.) Only occasional vocals in my mix. I like Sara, Nina, Bob Dorough, Mose Alison. Nothing against singers I just like the talk of the instruments.

Rock, R&B is a different story.

At the time they were around, I thought of Creedence as sort of teenybopper, a really stupid concept of them. So I never bothered to see them. Big mistake.
