Asian beetles.
I hate the damned things. There are some flying around here already. Do they not die?!? Did they not get killed off this winter?!?

1. No, they merely hibernate
Traditionally, Asian Lady Beetles hibernate in tree bark, and then come out when it gets warm. The best way to keep them out of your house is to caulk all cracks and make sure you have tight-fitting screens. They eat aphids, so they really are helpful for gardeners. If you find a lot of them, vacuum them up and release them outside. Remember that they can bite and STINK when dead.

3. Oh, yeah, I know they bite.
Last fall (or late summer), there were clouds of them. You could hardly go outside. You'd get covered in them. Ugh, it was terrible. And a few already got in my house. I can hear them banging against the walls. They may be good for gardners, but there's just too many of them!

2. WORSE
are the damned box elder bugs... they don't bite or stink, but they're huge and look like damned roaches crawling all over my house (even though we don't really have roaches around here)

4. Creepy looking...
We have some down here. I don't like them, either.

An aphid control agent that itself turned out to be a pest.

6. It's never good to mess around with nature like this.
They are quite a pest. It looks like this year might be worse than last year. I don't think there's anything in Iowa that eats these beetles.
