Freeper--Target supports Homos, the ACLU and everything else evil
To: VRWCisme
All these places are the same - I used to only shop Target but since they nixed the Salvation Army from using bell ringers I only shop at Walmart for my chinese made crap. Target supports homos, the ACLU and everything else anti-Christian.

they're a French company once :). Remember that hoax e-mail bullshit that was circulating about them not donating to troops and being French owned, etc.?

He was so fucking self righteous about it, until I publicly humiliated him by giving him the info from Snopes proving him wrong :).

I like "sasafras" slogan. Wonder if she actually knows how close her philosophy is with that of Benito Mussolini?

14. That one made me roll my eyes.
I'm from the birthplace of Target, and I've shopped there since my mother brought me to the Bloomington, MN, store when I was a child. I remember when the Dayton family owned the place. Sometimes we referred to it as "Discount Dayton's."

according to choosetheblue.com.

I avoid it even though it's convenient and cheap.

primarily to dem candidates. I try to buy stuff from them. Others should do likewise. Check out choosetheblue.com.

There are a couple of other similar websites; can't think of 'em right now.

18. I Have Checked Out That Website
But here's the problem:

Say I want to buy groceries, you know, so that I can put food on my family. I can go to Brown & Cole grocery stores (which don't exist around here) or I can go to Costco (which is nearly an hour away). Those are my two choices. My only other options are "buying red" or starving. All of the major grocery stores, like Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Food Lion... they are all red.

Then, when I actually get in the store, all the food companies are red too, unless I fill my basket with Sara Lee stuff.

Then, let's say I want to go out to eat in a restaurant. The only one I'm "allowed" to eat at is Stephanies on Marbury, which I've never even heard of.

All I'm saying is that it's pretty impractical if not downright impossible to only buy from "blue" companies. Target is pretty damn socially conscious for being a "red" company, and I have no guilt at all when I shop there.

19. Yes... impossible to buy *only* from blue companies; but....
doesn't it help to buy * mainly* from blue companies? If there is a feasible alternative, (and you are correct: sometimes there is none)is it not better to do business w. socially responsible co.s than with co.s that are not?

Re. Target : "guilt" is not something I can relate to here. I refrain from spending $$$ at Target 'cause it's in my own (enlightened, I believe) self-interest to do so. Not because they're unfair to their employees, for instance ( which I suspect they are).

I try to avoid giving them $$$ 'cause I don't want'em passing it on to ideological totalitarians who are intent on transforming the world in a way that I find ugly and offensive. I gotta live in the world they're trying mightily to create.... and I don't WANT to live there.

21. Around Here, My Choices Are Severely Limited
But I am not going to look up every single company's political donations before I shop there. I'm actually kind of sick of the idea that I have to boycott every single place and company and thing that has anything to do with the Republican party or is associated with it in any way. I get a little irritated with the notion that I'm not a "pure" enough liberal if I spend money at any company that is in any way associated with the Republicans.

  • I can't shop at Target because they donate to Republicans.
  • I can't buy Fruit of the Loom underwear because they donate to Republicans.
  • I can't go to Hawaii because their senators voted against ANWR.
  • I can't eat at Chili's, Olive Garden, or Outback because they donate to Republicans.
  • I can't ship anything UPS or FedEx because they donate to Republicans.
  • I can't go to Ohio because they swung the election to Bush.
  • Ditto that for Florida.
  • In fact, ditto that for ALL red states, because everyone who lives in those states deserves to be punished hard.
  • My baby can't wear diapers because they all donate to Republicans.
  • I can't watch Scrubs, Law & Order, or The Apprentice because they're on NBC which is owned by GE which donates to Republicans.
  • I can't use a Hoover vacuum cleaner, a Maytag washing machine, or an Amana refrigerator because they all donate to Republicans.
  • I can't use Post-It Notes because 3M donates to Republicans.
  • I can watch Fox News because they donate more to Democrats than Republicans.
  • I can't rent a car because they all donate to Republicans.
  • I can't fly Delta, Continental, American Airlines, United, Southwest, Northwest, or US Air because they all donate to Republicans. I sure hope that Alaska Airlines will take me everywhere I need to go.
  • I can't buy a car because all the automakers donate to Republicans, and besides, I can't buy gas for it anyway because that supports global terror.

I can handle boycotting the "big guys". I shouldn't shop at Wal-Mart? Fine, I don't, even though my own mother works at Sam's Club. I shouldn't watch Fox News? Well, I don't... I deprogrammed it off my channel listings (even though they are one of the so-called "blue" products I should be patronizing, according to your list). But to suggest that people need to boycott ALL companies/things associated with Republicans is unrealistic unless there are good alternatives in place. And right now, there really don't seem to be. For example, I can go to Target or I can go to Walmart. I choose Target. So sue me.

31. G.C....who in heck has given you the idea that you" have to"...
boycott any or all of these companies? Not me... I HOPE.

We all should do what we can realistically do. No more, no less.

I personally think the idea of using buying power as a means of influencing gov't policy is fraught with potential. Others differ. You sound somewhere in between.

8. The ACLU is anti-Christian? Who knew?
Every once in a while, you hear on the news a story about some over-zealous public school administrator who gets in hot water for telling a student that she can't pray before her school lunch. Right-wingers love hearing that shit. Now, while conservative "Christians" bellow red-faced from every pulpit and right-wing corporate CEO's make out campaign contribution checks to their pet candidates, who marches in to that school and tells that administrator that, yes, the student CAN pray before her lunch; after her lunch; even DURING her lunch if she feels like it?

The ACLU, of course.

Right-wingers hate the ACLU because the organization protects EVERYONE'S rights, not just the rights of white-skinned so-called Christians.

24. I shop at Target because they have the best prices on food.
Here in North Georgia where I live I have a choice of Ingles, Publix or Kroger. Ingles has very few choices and Publix and Kroger are too expensive. So I will continue to shop Target despite it being a "red" store because it is easier on my wallet.

Very clean, well lit, organized well, quality merchandise, even smells nice too. Oh, and all the ones here have cute cashier girls :P

Wal Mart is a dank depressing shithole with junk piles everywhere, cheap third world crap that's already broken on the shelves, smells like industrial ass, and employed by people who clearly had the life sucked out of them, poor bastards.
