What are we all listenning to?
I've got a newly downloaded St. Matthew Passion (J.S. Bach) playing, with which I am jolly happy.

The whole lot (over 2 hours solid music) for $9.99 (as I'm paying in sterling I vote for the weak dollar to continue); as one used to buying C.D.s this is a distinct improvement.

14. I love thunderstorms
I have a tendancy to throw every window wide open, and put on some loud booming music to go with the thunder. In summer if it's also warm standing in the thunderstorm can be great too.

8. You're so lucky to have a musical husband
I never play the piano unless the house is otherwise empty of people, and close all of the windows even in summer.

Nobody sane would want to hear me play :scared:

10. I've heard some of Dave Brubeck
But I fear my jazz knowledge is tiny and my listening restricted to occasional forays into Jazz Record Requests or similar programme on B.B.C. Radio3.

You have Dokken on your list. Most people don't want to admit they like the 90's era metal. I have the same tune in my library.

20. eClassical
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 04:17 PM by tjwmason
http://www.eclassical.com/

Which seems to be one of the few sources for Classical MP3s; to make it even worse I don't tend to fit in with the mainstream classical market either so downloading is not very frequent. Surely somebody wants to stick the complete organ works of Charles Tournemire up there...

****Edit

The St. Matthew Passion is on a special seasonal offer, as this is the time of year when it would have been played.

I got the Brandenburgs, and a number of smaller pieces. I've downloaded as Zips and as individual items; all without incident.

23. Sonny Landreth
Live album. If you like a modern electric blues played with a little cajun spice, you'd probably like S.L. Used to play with Clifton Chenier. Here's a little exerpt from a fan page

"His haunting slide technique is quite different from anything I’d ever heard before; sometimes he is able to coax sounds from his guitars that sound like other instruments. Sonny uses a style that combines finger picking, palming and slapping the strings and what looks to me like he’s trying to “excite the strings” like you would with a bow on a violin. His slide technique is quite unique in that he also frets behind the slide, giving him a different sound and "feel" than most slide players"

Here's his official site:

Her new cd. She does cover versions of songs by Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Cockburn, Jane Siberry, Neil Young...and a tune of her own. A very nice cd. Highly recommended.

42. I think that it's good to have a local musician
The music can be so much more rooted in its community - says he who listens pretty much exclusively to classical music, thus from right across Europe.
