Did anyone else here have to listen to Limbaugh
against his / her will?

My father played him every day. It was almost impossible to stay away from it. For that reason, I am hoping that Rush gets pushed off the airways forever. I wonder...how many freeper wives have to force themselves not to projectile-vomit every morning as that stupid guitar riff comes on announcing the blowhard.

Luckily they can divorce their husbands. I had nowhere to go.

1. That "stupid guitar riff" used to be a great song
by the Pretenders until Rush ruined it for me by forever associating it with right-wing blowhard excess.

Yeah, when I would go visit my father he would always have it on his car radio. Luckily I was able to turn it off most of the time.

Two Limbaugh memories for you:

The first time I heard him, some dittohead called up and said "I have a question. How come colleges teach liberal arts, but not conservative arts?" Rush, to his credit, mumbled something about that being an alternate definition of "liberal", but the caller replied "Well, it does make you wonder, though." That was when I first asked my father "You really listen to this crap?"

I also heard him the day after the 1998 election, when the Republicans were dealt a significant blow in the House. Rush comes on the air, and acting all defiant, says "This is Rush Limbaugh, going nowhere." And then there was this really long pause, like he realized that he had just made a really bone-headed comment. That was when I asked my father "You still listen to this crap?"

2. Thankfully, no

Although my late father was conservative as hell in far too many ways, he used to refer to Limbaugh as "that fuckin' geek."

My dad was a man of many contradictions....

3. Never had to thank God.
I don't know any people people that still listen to him outside of my Log Cabin Republican brother.
