Poll question: Yo, trekkies, what would you rather watch?
Original series - with uber-hammy William Shatner.

Next Generation - seasons 1, 2, 5, and 6 - utterly cheesy writing and acting...

3. Season 1 sucked bad.
Season 2 was much better but not as good as things to come.

8. I agree. Season 2 could have been better, but it didn't suck...
...as much as Season 1. :D

9. I thought season 1 of DS9 was better than Season 1 of TNG.
Even if TNG was better overall.

11. It seems to take certain TV shows awhile to find their stride.
The characters have to be settled. The actors have to become familiar with complex sets. Sci-fi shows are logistical nightmares. After TNG, I fully expected the first season of every following Star Trek spin-off to suck at least a little. Growing pains, you know?

2. I watch them both.
They both have great laughs. How can you deny the magnetism that oozes from Bill Shatner. And TNG-how was it that the teenage boy saved the day more than once (every teenage boy I've ever met was a little more worried about getting laid than physics and how to save their ship from destruction from a virus passed on to everyone around him in a game).
Dammit-I admitted to my geekdom again!

5. Thanks!
I used to have a crush on him when I was very young (around the time of Stand By Me). I saw him on VH1 a while ago and he is now a self-professed geek (which I can totally respect).
I'll have to check it out.

TOS and TNG are good for different things. And let's not forget that Mr Stewart can be pretty hammy himself when delivering one of his great speeches... "What Shakespeare said with irony I say with conviction; what a piece of work is man!"

10. That's not just ham, that's one helluva double entendre!
"What Shakespeare said with irony I say with conviction; what a piece of work is man!"

Yes, Picard, I am with you on that so much! :7 Proof, if any be needed, that Picard was gay - that very line proves it unequivocally.

17. Star Trek porn fan fiction...
That's the only reason you humans have the internet and cell phones. That's the only reason your pathetic proto-civilization was spared, the only reason we diverted a giant meteor like the one that destroyed the dinosaurs.

If not for Star Trek you would have been vaporized. We would have removed you from our protection and spared you the death and dying of some "Mad Max" or "A Boy and His Dog" world.

Yes, it's true, you are no better than food for Don Johnson's telepathic dog....

Except for Star Trek...

At this point the human race may survive, or may not. Be thankful it was Star Trek Porn that bought your race a little more time.

I am not making this up. Google something like "Spock licked"with "safe search" turned off, and you will learn the truth.

Horny computer geeks (both heterosexual and homosexual) saved your pathetic little world from destruction.

Live long and prosper. Spock Out

...she was at James Doohan's convention farewell, but she's 75 herself. I wouldn't imagine she'll be doing them very much longer.

Too many people googling Star Trek characters + interesting verbs.

Especially "Seven of Nine."

28. I liked Voyager better than DS9
although I did not watch either of them consistently. It was more of a late night re-run show when I watched it. Of course Voyager had 7 of 9 which was pretty close to 10 as far as I was concerned. Since DS9 could not really go anywhere it seemed more like a Soap Opera to me. It lacked the "new discovery" aspect of the original series, and Voyager seemed to bring some of that back.

23. I like Trek classic with Shatner.
I used to watch it in syndication every day after day school as a kid.

I think it was David Gerrold who said every episode was like a morality play for our time.

The Next Generation and all the rest just seemed like silly sci-fi soap operas to me.
