1. No. If you aren't going to drink it all at once and actually like
an inexpensive table wine, boxed wine keeps better than bottled wine since the bag is airtight.

3. Not if you put it in a fancy carafe, preferably one labeled
with fancy lettering, saying "cheap wine!"

6. I don't think so
I prefer boxed pink wine, myself :) It does keep well, being all sealed up! And now that it comes with a tap... :D

7. I drank boxed wine of all sorts when drinking was primarily
a means of getting drunk. At an older and wiser forty-one, I find them pretty harsh & raw. I remember once going to a funeral gathering where the wine was served straight from the boxes. Even in my early twenties I found that tacky.

13. I don't think so, but it depends on what you're doing with the wine.
I don't think I'd serve boxed wine to an internationally recognized authority, but luckily, they never come over for dinner here anyway.

I think it can be a really economical way to keep a bit of wine on hand for a long period of time. And yes, I'm well aware that they don't put the really snazzy hooch in a box and stuff a tap in it. But there are some good, basic, acceptable wines available in boxes. If you entertain a lot, it's nice to not have to crack open a fresh bottle and drink it all down in the course of one evening.

I like to keep a small box of white in the fridge during the summer. If friends stop by for a barbecue, or to see a movie, and the boys are having beer, me and the girls can each have a little white wine spritzer without having to toss out a half a bottle of wine at the end of the night.
