years ago with hubby Cougat...was modeling at a brunch and she was a love..think she was 16 or something...child bride.

Mother in law flew with her this year from Mexico and airline stewardess wouldn't allow her to stow her priceless guitar...mother in law went to war and got it stowed for her. She had on nylons under shorts..but at her age who can blame her.

What is she now, 60? I saw her a few months ago on a morning TV show. She looks great. She and Tina Turner are the hottest seniors on the circuit.

9. Maria Baeza -- Charo

She is one of the best Old World guitarists around, easily the equal of an Eric Clapton. And, for several years in the 1970s, she became a media darling because she was attractive and had a dense accent and would say "cuchi-cuchi". People reacted to her a little like they react to Paris Hilton today -- except that Charo had talent.

She was married to bandleader Xavier Cugat for a while. I lost track of her, but her guitar work was so phenomenal that I doubt she disappeared.

she has a non-stop childlike enthusiasm that is actually quite endearing. Looking at her photo you'd think she was some kind of phony but I've seen her interviewed and she is warm, smart, funny. :)

I agree with you about Paris - she has a kind of snootiness about her that I find simply appalling. As far as when someone should retire, I think if someone still wants to perform and people still want to see them then MORE POWER TO THEM. Yes INDEED!

intelligence. She comes across like she's stupid, but her words and insights are incredibly on the spot. It's got to take some talent to hit it on the nail, time and time again, and let everyone in the room still think they're smarter than you are.

who last very long are truly stupid. They've learned how to play it well.

Goldie Hawn won an Oscar and was one of the most powerful women in Hollywood in her time.
