So, I went to see Dame Edna today.
Went to the matinee at Heinz Hall. She was hilarious - very lovely show. I would definately encourge any "possums" out there to go see it if you get a chance.

Some comments: my two sibs and I went, and we joke about being hicks goin' to the Big City. Apparently, so do others. While walking down the street after the show, two people were coming the other way. One of them said "boy, smell Jean Nate's finest today". It was supposed to be sarcastic, I guess. I don't know who was wearing the perfume (we were in a crowd), but did those people have to be such smartasses?

The demographic of people who attended the show defied description. There were folks there of all ages and genders. Mostly white, but otherwise not easy to describe.

There was some sort of NAACP parade in town, we saw it while wandering around prior to the show. The bands and step groups were fabulous!

And best of all, I got to explain to my apolitical sibs all about Traitorgate. They were outraged about this, and can't understand why SOMEONE isn't in jail for it. The average American is not stupid, just uninformed and uncurious. We can change this is we keep plugging away.

The sibs and I are already looking forward to our next trip to the Big City.

1. Did you get impaled by a gladiola?
The folks at the emergency room didn't believe me when I told them what happened . . .

2. No, we were way up in the cheap seats.
She referred to us as her "mizzies", short for the paupers in Les Miserables. I would have loved to get a gladiola! How did you get impaled?

7. A gladiola ... right through the chest
It was horrible. Now I have this terrible fear of all things floral. I can't even walk into a dress shop in the South for fear of floral prints ;) .

3. Did she invite anyone from the audience to come on stage
When I saw her in NY she had a couple actually sit and eat pasta through out the entire second act.

4. Caught her act in Seattle and it was very funny.
She did the same thing here with the pasta. I was amazed at was the amount of local referrences that she included in her act. She really did her research.
