3. there is only one real gs cookie
it is the thin mint. The rest of them are late arrivals and are bogus. Of course that doesn't stop me from eating a box or two at a sitting.

9. Well, no. The Trefoils were the original Girl Scout cookie.
That makes Thin Mints a late arrival also. ;)

33. Yes, they were. And the Thin Mints were next.
When I was a Girl Scout in the sixties, there were only two kinds of Girl Scout cookies: Trefoils and Thin Mints. And I've loved those Thin Mints since then.

10. Speaking of Samoas -
Can anyone remember if they ever went by another name? I have this vague recollection that the Samoas went by a different name and it was changed to Samoas a number of years ago.

Is this true or did I dream it?

12. No
They've been Caramel Delights for some areas and Samoas for others. It depends on where the local council gets their boxes from.

I always buy a couple of boxes. My son had several this afternoon. He seems to like them better than any of the cookies with chocolate on them.

25. I thought Savannahs were the peanut butter cream sandwiches.
I mean the cookies with no chocolate involved. The Tagalongs are chocolate-covered.

Do they even make those vanilla and chocolate sandwich cookies any more? Those used to be standard, along with the trefoil shortbread.

and I know this because I am sitting here pigging out on a sleeve of these as we speak. And, yes, Father forgive me for I am sinning...

32. The name depends on which bakery makes them
They are made by different bakeries around the country. Councils can pick the "bakery packages" that they prefer to see, so not every council will have the same cookies for sale. Even if they have the same recipe, if they are made by different bakeries, they will have different names. Thus, a trefoil in one council area can be called a shortbread in another, even though they are basically the same cookie.

So, do-si-do's in your council can be savannahs in another, and peanut butter cremes in another, even though they are the same cookie.

How do I know? I was a cookie mom for years!

29. Speaking as a GS leader for many years...........
Please remember that there are 2 different bakers for GS cookies and they don't call the cookies by the same names. The bakers are Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. Each council may choose which baker they will buy from, so many people would not necessarily know what a Tag-A-Long or a Samoa is. The other baker may call it something different. But by any name they call it, it is a very good cause to support. I've been known to give troops selling in front of grocery stores the money but not taking the cookies.

I was fortunate to take 15 girls to England in 1999 to an International Camp which turned out to be one of the highlights of my GS 'career'. Cookies definitely played a role in the fundraising that enabled us to take these girls across the ocean.

I LOVE Thim Mints, BTW. Frozen is the best!!!!!!

Although I liked the ones I sold as a Girl Scout better (they had a few sprinkles of sugar on them). I also love Thin Mints (preferably frozen) and Samoas.
