When someone closes a post with "Flame Away"...
Doesn't it just take the fun out of it? Well, at least you know you're being setup... I prefer the warnings at the top of the message, like "I don't want to offend anyone but..." then at least I can click right past the bait.

1. Yeah, that's a let down.
I like it better when they don't expect it.

3. nahhh....I only do it when I seem to be the only dissenting voice
on the thread...not trying to "set you up" maybe just make people think twice before going into attack mode...I've been trying to be less inflammatory but sometimes I just get into those moods..comes from growing up with 3 siblings...vying for attention and such...

6. Haha... well, I have no one in particular in mind really...
I see it all the time here though... and it just kinda lets the air out of the sails to know that someone expects a flame :)

5. What I find hilarious...
...is when someone ends with "flame away", and then acts all indignant when he gets flamed.

7. YES... and it's amazing how often that happens...
in fact, it's nearly predictable that it will... that or it will be entirely ignored. :)

8. Oh, as an aside.....
I post on a travel board too and this lady always finishes her post with "Flame away"....

"You'll find that the weather in Norway is beautiful at that time of year. Flame away."

I finally asked her why she puts that at the end of every post and she replied that she had just seen it and thought it meant "OK, that's it."

10. I have to admit I do it...but only in the sports forum..no matter what you
post there, someone's gonna flame, and it's my way of letting them know that I can already see it coming!
