What's the latest in the day you've ever slept in until??
In the summer of 1997 (at age 15), I once slept for 22 hours straight, from 9:30 pm one day to 7:30 pm the next day. I almost cried when I woke up and found out the time, because I felt so ashamed that I slept that late (it was a beautiful summer day, too, and I wasted it).

As far as recent years go, I remember sleeping until 5 pm one day last year, but that was on a Sunday, so I could afford to do that. I never sleep late on weekdays, or at least I TRY not to. I can't afford to miss classes.

So what about you??

1. when I was sick, I once slept until about 3:30 PM
It was probably a total of 17 hours. There were people in the house so it wasn't quiet. I must have been very sick and needed the rest. I was 18 at the time.

2. I've done that
Wake up at 5 that is.

I once slept 48 hours straight with one potty break, but I'd just had a nasty concussion, so it wasn't all that surprising. (Ha! They told my dad not to let me sleep–I went home and SACKED OUT! We're talking a TWO-DAY nap. It was marvelous, but it left me pretty woozy.)

7. I've done the sleep-'til-noon thing a couple of times...
...but the only time I've ever gone significantly later is when I'd been up the entirety of the night before (a redeye flight on which I didn't manage to sleep). I got home at 8 am and slept until about 3 or 4.

I frequently sleep until 3pm or so after the nights I work. Otherwise, 1pm maybe (pre-kids of course).

13. Sure wish I could sleep
I take no drugs or alcohol but......... after 23 years of rising at 5:30am that is my time. Bedtime is a different story, always fought sleep as long as I can remember.. I try to go to bed at 10P and fall asleep watching TV until 11 or 12, then listen to Mike Malloy or Bernie Ward, then if awake Ray T. I'm just not a sleeper.

12. I worked rotating shifts for one summer
After a night shift, a few times I slept until 5 or 6 pm.
I think that the longest I slept continuously, without even a bathroom break was 15 hours. I was sick and one of the side effects of my new prescription was drowsiness and it really made me drowsy. One of the bad effects of me sleeping long is that I get dehydrated.

14. Once I slept until 8 PM
I was at a party (a LAN party, ha... I'm such a nerd) and nobody was sleeping but I was really tired so I went to sleep on the floor in another room with my jacket. I slept for like an hour and then went out to play. I left at about 9 in the morning and I got really sick from sleeping on the floor. I went home and woke up at 8. My whole internal clock was fucked up that weekend.

15. a lot of teenagers
sleep a lot when they're in a growth spurt. I grew about 6 inches one summer between age 13 and 14 and often was in bed for 16 or 18 hours. My parents would always measure my height after a long sleeping bout - lol - to see how much taller I was. Funny memories.

16. I would say the longest sleep was probably related to a jet lag
coming back from an overnight flight from Europe during which I got no sleep. All I remember was that when I woke up it was 6:00 and daylight and I had absolutely no idea whether it was am or pm!

18. When you are out til 4 AM..
... it's not hard to sleep until 3 PM. Especially if you are trying to sleep through a hangover, which, for mysterious karmic reasons, never works :)

19. I've gone to sleep and gotten up at pretty much every hour of the day
I'm an insomniac/night owl and get my sleep pattern turned around pretty easily if I'm not having to get up at a regular pattern. So I've done everything from getting up at midnight to going to bed at noon. I don't actually sleep a lot, though; I actually sleep less than most people I think... just at odd hours!

20. My longest time is probably around 40 hours.
When I had my tonsils out back in, oh, fourth grade? Yeah, the anesthesia made me super sick and I just slept and slept.

Today, I was asleep until 4 PM. Damn flu.

22. After a Grateful Dead concert I slept until 330 the next
afternoon. Of course I didn't get to bed until 600 that morning. It was awesome because I had ANOTHER Dead show to go to that night!!!

That's the life....eat...sleep and see the Dead!!!!

I miss Jerry G.
