Computer Problem - Internet Explorer
I have:
- windows 2000
- internet explorer 6 sp1
- amd 2100 xp

Everything was working fine until one day I noticed that on webpages that use popup windows like hotmail.com (when you click on contacts...a window pops up) the window shoot up, but didn't load...it just stayed there stuck. I can't seem to open any pop-ups like that.

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Or how to fix it?

please don't say "use mozilla or some other browser"...like i said...internet explorer was working fine....and works fine for my computer at work.....I'm not switching. I need someone who knows how to solve problems....
please...i know there are a few computer experts out there...

1. Grab spybot search and destroy...
...and see if you have any rogue programs running.

I've checked thoroughly. Thats not the problem.

on a side note:
do you find that program to be better than ad-aware? and please be 100% honest as to whether you've actually used ad-aware.

3. reinstall ie?
i would reinstall internet explorer, type 'download ie' in a search engine and it should point you to the ms download site.

as for ad aware i use it and don't have a problem with it, i am sure someone has something to say about it somewhere though like everything else.

4. I have used both
I like Spybot better. Mainly because it is better for parasites.
If you use Spybot, make sure to hit the update. I got pop-up parasite a few days ago and Spybot did not get it untill I did an update.

Everyone, if DU is spawning pop-ups you have parasites !

5. Yes, Iike it much better...
I had the migmaf virus last week. Spybot found it. Ad Aware didn't. Norton didn't. McAfee didn't.

6. Just a thought
You may wish to go to the control panel...Add remove programs. Click on IE. Select Add/remove, and a window will pop up...Should give you the option to repair. Should take care of your issue.
If it doesn't give you the option...Don't proceed.
