but forget that. This summer I found out that my son lost his at 15. (He just turned 17 in September). He was telling me this story about being set up with this 23 year old woman while he was in Greece this summer. Goofing around, I asked him if he'd lost his virginity. My first sexual encounter was with a sex predator. This creep took advantage of an awkward 12 year old who had family problems. Most sex predators look for children with troubled backgrounds and I fit the profile. My parents constantly fought, they had financial problems and could be abusive. He listened to me and made me feel special, but in the end he tricked me. This creep drugged me before he had sex with me which in a way was a mercy since my memories of the incident are vague, but I remember feeling degraded. I believe the real reason he drugged me was so I couldn't testify against him if he got caught, but I was too afraid of what my parents would do if they found out.

Still hanging on to it, not always sure if that's by choice or simply by lack of ability to rid myself of it! And I'm twenty, so I suppose I'm already abnormal by comparison to the majority of DUers...

And yeah, there was a time that I had an opportunity to have lost it, but I didn't feel right about it at the time. I thought my girlfriend was going to be "the one" and I wanted to wait for marriage so things would be special. After I got dumped, I suppose I kicked myself a few times wondering what might have been. Now I'm not even sure how I feel about waiting, while at the same time I'm not really certain I have any choice but to wait considering my lack of success at even getting a date these days. Isn't life strange?

Now, having read the replies of so many others, I can see that I wasn't. Still, at the time, (Mid-eighties)it seemed the thing to do. I was such a shy, awkward kid, that I thought I was the only one my age who hadn't. I was scared to death and the girl I was with wasn't. She was much more experienced than I was. I wonder what she thought of my fumbling and fiddling. We saw each other a few more times and then she called it off. I'm not surprised.
