Sometimes I wish I drove an SUV. There...I've said it.
Like today, for instance. National Weather Service says:
Any travel is strongly discouraged. If you leave the safety of being
indoors... you are putting your life at risk.

Yet, I had a radio show to do, so I ventured out (against my husbands protestations. He apparently doesn't think that producing a jazz radio show show is as important as I do :P )
My PT Cruiser got me nowhere. I made it about 50 feet, and it would go no further. I had to throw it in reverse to go back home, because it certainly wasn't going forward.

So yeah - one of those big, gas guzzling SUVs would have been really handy today.

1. You can get a decent fuel mileage SUV
Smaller ones with 4x4. The Ford Escape has a hybrid version.

2. Even though I hate being up high with a passion...
I could use the extra cargo space for my move back to Stevens Point Tomorrow Morning.

4. Check out a Subaru. I drive a Forester----fairly roomy interior,

seats four adults comfortably, full-time AWD, and a decent little four cylinder engine.
The fuel economy isn't world shaking (a little over 30 mpg highway / 26 city), but plenty of pep, and you're not married to the gas pump.

<edit> I LOVE driving it in the snow---AWD rocks.

5. Honda CRV
You can get a used 1st Gen (through 01) for a good price. If you get an AWD one you can get 22-27+MPG. Even the 2nd Gen CRVs are not bad, but then I would go with an Element.

7. I had to do some errands after the blizzard last night...
And the fact that I had to drive thorugh all the unplowed snow really pissed me off. I got stuck twice. I started fantasizing about myself driving through all that snow in a Hummer H1. Not an H2, but an H1. I started thinking about how sweet it would be.
