Do you take yourself too seriously?
Does your ego get a bit overinflated sometimes?

1. On certain things yeah
When it comes to work I can be a little overly intense...so I've been told.

But dammit I deserve an overinflated ego sometimes.

2. No, I'm in a business that is overpopulated with big egos...
so I've learned to keep mine under control.

3. I take EVERYTHING too seriously!
That's actually kind of what my new year's resolution is.....to relax, enjoy my life and not take it too seriously! :P

5. No, and I wish I could inflate my ego.
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 05:40 PM by tjdee
My ego should be a lot higher. I'm attractive, smart, and have a lot of skills such as nunchuck and cage fighting.

So I don't get what's up with that.

6. I sometimes take myself too seriously
I tend to be pretty intense in what I do. I need people around me who are able to defuse that and make me laugh and see the funny side. I have a good sense of humor but I get very involved in my work or politics and forget to laugh. My hubby is very good at lightening me up.

8. Not anymore.

There have been times in the past when I was guilty of it but I've since learned to listen and read carefully before assuming mine is the most legitimate viewpoint.

Edit to add: But, while I'll acknowledge mistakes, I'm really, really, really hard to sway from my beliefs. Don't think that's an ego thing though...

11. Yes and I have volatile self esteem because of it
It goes something like this, I believe that I better than most people at something or more(fill in the blank) than most people. I feel great about myself because of this. Then some event occurs which "proves" that this is incorrect. Then I believe that I am a horrible person and the worst, dumbest, ... I feel horrible about myself. Then something happens to "prove" that I am great again and I feel great until the next negative event. I have a couple of friends like this too.
One of my friends said that in AA they were taught tp say "I am no better or worse than anyone else." I need to really learn and believe this.

12. Seemingly overinflated egos are often cover for feeling inadequate.
I think this describes me sometimes.

16. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Ahem, yes, sometimes I do. Not in a bossy, pushy way, but rather in the way that I think my problems, woes, etc. are **the** end of the world. And they're not, not by a long shot.

I'm pretty quick to come back to earth, though.
