New Sunglasses Have Built-In TV

IT could well be the ultimate "tune-out" gadget - a pair of sunglasses that lets you while away the time on a long trip or boring meeting by watching DVDs.

The EyeTop could soon be adorning the person sitting next to you on your daily commute to work.

It's a pair of fashionably styled sunglasses with an inbuilt miniature LCD TV monitor and is connected to a portable DVD player and set of earbuds.

Promoters hope the EyeTop - to be priced at $975 in Australia - will do to video what devices such as the Sony Walkman and Apple's iPod did to music.

Melbourne company Export IT is bringing the EyeTop to Australia after it was previewed at an electronics show in Las Vegas last week.

"I've watched lots of younger people get on to planes and trains, get their iPods out and start connecting their headphones and whatnot and then sit back and settle into their own musical world," Export IT's managing director Robert Wilson said.
