10. Yay (in four months)
I just hope they can keep the writing up there. Tired of these US commitee produced excuses for Sci Fi.

14. Well, at least it'll be quirky.
Whether good quirky or bad quirky remains to be seen.

15. Well, I've heard...
that Dr Who (and Blake's 7) are coming back because of popular demand - or, rather more accurate, their fanbase that buys any dumb thing with "Dr Who"s stamped on it. (watch out, Gareth Roberts is a huge * fan and goes out of his way to mix politics with his Dr Who reviews. And I'm definitely going to write to the editor and boycotting anything new he writes. He's a big fat jerk, even after everything that's come out against *. sigh.) But I digress...

The BBC, thanks to 20 years of "thatcherific" policies, has been losing money and they need to make more money. So why not exploit the two commodities they've refused to sell to anyone else despite not making it themselves under the excuse that sci-fi isn't popular?

Also, from the grapevine, many Brits feel that their quality of television has declined over the years as well; it's been 'dumbed down'. (it's still better than ours is, but still.)

9. Andromeda is SO painfully bad!
How could IT survive, but Babylon 5 & Farscape not? Just baffles the mind...

11. Farscape not surviving, I have no idea...
but Babylon 5 ran its run, and JMS didn't intend the show to go past 5 seasons.
Of course, the spinoff's demise (Crusade) is the fault of TNT's crappy execs wanting a frelling bar fight in every episode and a crewmember of the ship who had to understand each new alien race they encounted by having sex with said new species. :eyes:

Good news is that filming starts soon on a Bab 5 feature movie.
(No kidding.)

17. B5 was originally cancelled after season 4. Knowing in advance, the
writer had truncated a bunch of story arcs and rushed to make a bunch of new ones after the fan write-in worked.

Fucking networks. Money and what they see as ratings means more than art. The corporatization of America, while nice at times, can be sickening too. Art is expression. Not money.

13. Currently, they all suck skunk glands... and why is the good stuff hard to
come by? Because a lot of them are star trek wannabes where people go explore and find things and they're monsters with a moral claim and whatever. The characters are as bland as recycled paper, all the same.

B5 was also conceived of, long before DS9 came out. :P :D
