My sister and I are giving my mom tickets to the show and a train ticket as one of her birthday gifts? I've never seen it or the movie but I do love that song from it- "If I was rich man" I don't know if that's the real name of the song but I do enjoy all the remixes they've made to it.

7. I was merely a "chorus member"
at the end they all die a horrible slow death from cyanide poisoning.. just kidding. It is the story of the jews in turn of the century Russia. Not a happy time for them. some other songs from the show: Matchmaker, Matchmaker Sunrise, Sunset Miracle of Miracles Do You Love Me? To Life (L'Chaim!)

6. I think either Alfred Molina is in it now
or he will be in it by the time they see it in Jan. Either that or Harvey Feinstein's in it now or he will be in Jan. I'm not sure. They're going to a matinee so the understudy will probably be in it anyway.

My mom loves going to Broadway! She's all excited about the Phantom of the Opera movie. I think Phantom is her fave musical. She saw it three times on Broadway.:hi:

9. I saw it at some dinner theatre as a kid, and loved it.
Great music. Of course I was enthralled with the whole dinner theatre concept.

14. "There is no other hand."
Whether or not one agrees with his stance on his daughters marriage to a non Jew, I think that scene is powerful. I remember it myself sometimes when dealing with situations.

15. Saw it at Seattle's 5th Ave Theater
Good songs and a universal message -- about racism and forcing out one group of people from their homes. I'd go see it again if it were playing nearby.

I grew up watching musicals with my mom. You should see us dancing around the living singing "If I were a Rich Man" at the top of our lungs. :D

My mom is a big musical fan! She's going to love this gift! I think she has no clue about it. My mom is one of those people that needs to know what her gifts are. But this one should be a real surprise!:hi:
